I just started playing again after months, I need a noob practice partner to play with

How does the ladder system work? I'm ranked 1st in my gold division but I wasn't sure when I could be promoted to platinum.
New patch removed the losses column from your stats if you are silver-diamond. Only master's league players will be able to see their wins and losses now.
Loss ratio is not shown unless masters, because below masters the stat means nothing.
Promotion comes when you keep beating players from a higher league. Tomorrow you can get promoted again because then the ladder resets.

I know that promotion comes from beating players from a higher league, but I kept hearing that it's only during a certain time period where those wins will get you promoted before the ladder is "locked" again for a while. I was wondering if that was true or not.
just started playing Sc2 recently. wondering if anyone has any tips on getting better? (been using zerg) is it just a matter of playing against other people and learning the right builds?

<p>Marine, Marauder, Tank, Ghost are units that absolutely destroy both Protoss and Zerg.</p>
