I was just wondering because i never turn mine off because vista takes so long to turn on and off, i know it kills my battery but i dont really wanna wait for my laptop to turn on and off. The only time i ever really turn off my laptop is if im gonna bring it somewhere or if i know im not gonna be home for a while, but i would probably bring my laptop with me wherever i go...

I turn mine off every night and turn it back on when I'm going to use it. Mine starts pretty quick though ... 10-15 seconds.

It takes like a minute for mine to start, then after i get logged in and everything, i still have to wait a little bit for it to load up and stuff... I gotta get another gig of ram to handle vista...

You may have some programs starting up that you don't need.

I close my laptop when im done with it but leave it plugged in so it stays in hibernation that way I don't have to wait for loading of all the damn programs every time I use it again.

my laptop comes on pretty fast, but i still have to wait for it to load properly before i try to use any applications or it'll freeze. as far as cutting it off goes, it seems like it take 5 mins before it shuts down.

i turn mine off when i'm asleep unless i'm downloading a torrent.
if you never unplug yours it is good to take the battery out when it's fully charged and just have it run off of AC, it helps the batteries life expectancy

Don't turn it off and you'll seek the consequence, trust me.

Few years ago I'd never turn my computer off for the same reason. I hated when for my computer to load up. So I kept it up for a year or so, and one day I come downstairs and see that the computer is off. I try turning it on, nothing.

Turned out shit got fried in there due to overheating in the power supply.

That was a desktop too, so laptops are probably more prone to overheated because of smaller fans and ish.

TURN IT OFFFFFFF.

^If you take the battery out and run off of the outlet.. it won't run as fast. At least on the MBP.

The processor speed cuts to 50% when only powered by the outlet.
