Word, I tried doing that, but it didn't work.

AOL is like a fucking virus that stays forever on your computer. I can't reformat, though I want to, because I have no clue how to do re-connect my Netgear internet adapter to my uncle's (I share my internet with him).

Well, if you can't post up a whole tutorial, maybe you should throw out some tips/advice.

I just got Yahoo! Widgets, and didn't really notice any significant slowness or anything.

So I just did a whole bunch of deleting/removing shit files clogging up my computer.

Now I have the bare essential programs, and for the first time in 5 years, it takes only 5-10 seconds to start up my computer to the main desktop screen.

And I finally upgraded to IE7. Some of my programs rely on it (TuneUp, etc.). CCleaner is pretty dope too. It cleared 400MB of BS.

Alright, I got rid of AOL permanently (I'm hoping).

I think I've tweaked out everything I can. Back to getting a theme, do you recommend it, with my current computer stats:

Info:

Windows XP; Home Edition 2002; Service Pack 2
Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
2.79GHz, 512MB of RAM

shouldn't be an issue but if your computer does run slow, i would upgrade the ram to at least 1gig. ram is pretty cheap now for desktops too

I'll try it out. Thanks for the tip, unknown force.

You use StyleXP? Which themes/sites where you can get themes do you recommend?

Word.

I just tried out StyleXP with ObjectDock/Bar, and that shit was not popping. The ObjectDock/Bar made my computer slower, but StyleXP actually didn't. Kinda strange.

I also have Limewire. Is that shit inferior to torrents? I have to go try out torrents. I'm on that late shit.

limewire is pretty much outdated and too dangerous with the amount of viruses and trojans on that shit. i would only use that if you absolutely HAVE to have something and can't wait a while for it or if you can't find it. i haven't used a p2p program like that in a long time

stop downloading shit, every page your're downloading new crap. Widgets?! what the fuck are you gonna do w/ widgets dude??

get in the habit and just remove everything you do not need by going through your start menu. Skinning jut makes your system look tacky, i still haven't come across any theme that actually looks good and clean.

+ defrag

+ delete cache/temp in your docs & settings

+ remove everything unneccessary

deja vu, i dont know why im bothering to be really honest because i was ignored before, but wanting an efficient system then clogging it w/.. well.. shit?? nah man. get rid of aaaall that crap now.

I didn't do follow-up posts, but I deleted everything that was going for more appearance than performance (ie widgets, themes, etc.).

Right now, I have a pretty basic computer, but the only thing is the (still) slowness of internet (something I can't fix because I share with my uncle).

But seriously, torrents or not? I know you use them, Mag.

Which version of NOD32 do you have? I have a warez site and they have up at least 5 different types of NOD32 (for example: some shit like Business that lasts 67 years or something like that. lol).

URGENT SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP:

This keeps popping up. Somehow, my computer just restarted for no reason.

It wants to install AntiSpywareXP 2009? Do I let it download? I can't even access CCleaner/AVG Anti-Spyware (clicking on it wont work).

Alright, I got that annoying pop-up message^ gone by using this:

www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-removal/remove-antispywarexp-2009

But I've noticed my computer/internet got much slower. Fuck. I probably got the damn malware from trying to download Harold & Kumar.

Gotta hit up Helgen on that nod32 advice.

most of the time when you get a virus or something, and THEN try to install a virus scanner, it won't install correctly. just a lil btw

AntiSpywareXP is the worst. I got that shit. Took me like an hour to remove everything. Super stressful.

Did you use this guide to get rid of it?

www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-removal/remove-antispywarexp-2009

The little pop-up for me to install AntiSpywareXP (I didn't install it) stopped. Luckily, I was suspicious about it and didn't fully install it.

But somehow, even after getting rid of this (plus other trojans using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware), my computer got slower.
