nice game

The guy can do some massive damage, especially those throws. He's like a mixup between like gief and el fuerte.

hey that white guy talking does that cross handed joystick thing. what's up with people doing that?
March 14, 2010 @ 19:02:23
Cause he's used to using his right hand with movement and left hand with action buttons. Most joysticks have the layout the opposite. Instead of having the stick on the right and the buttons on the left, its the opposite.

Helgen's execution is on point. Were you a Denjin player in 3s or did you use sa1? Have you heard of plinking also, Helgen?
March 15, 2010 @ 18:30:56
Plinking is too good. I was hesitant about learning it because I didn't want to use something that only applied to one game but I use it all the time for two Boxer links (st. jab, cr. roundhouse and close st. roundhouse, cr. strong) and for when I'm messing around with Rufus.

Plinking=negative edging?
March 15, 2010 @ 18:59:32
You guys think I should wait to get Super Street Fighter IV instead of buying the one that's out now?

Plinking=negative edging?

No, plinking is a trick that plays with the way that Street Fighter 4 reads inputs. It basically adds one frame to any link that you can plink, so one frame links become two frame links.

In SF4 if you hit two buttons, the stronger one comes out (ex. if you hit MP and HP at the same time, HP comes out). What you do is you hit the button you want to come out and then hit a button that's a weaker strength right after, like one frame later (think kara. Also note that because of this, you cannot plink LP or LK). What happens is SF4 reads the two inputs back to back, so if you wanted to plink a HP you would hit just HP then MP right after that. The game sees this as HP and then HP+MP directly after. Those two inputs count for two hard punches, the second one exactly one frame after the first one, so if you're in the ballpark for a one frame link, you get the combo.

Makes the toughest combo able to be done consistently with practice.

That makes shit a lot easier.
March 16, 2010 @ 13:59:32
i still gotta get parrying down in 3s, but i kick ass pretty good with remy>smh
March 16, 2010 @ 14:35:21
helgen how are those combos possible in a real match? seems like you needed 5 ex bars for those combos.
March 16, 2010 @ 14:39:15

Dope game! I want to get one asap.
March 16, 2010 @ 16:07:16
^ I would be down but my membership expired.

@schao: the practiciality of those mad looking combos are slim to none, up to a certain point where damage scailing does not take affect is where its most effective. Bottom line, they're just for show haha.
March 16, 2010 @ 16:20:34
any tristate players have tournament experience?

i went to one of adnan's barfights in brooklyn and got knocked into losers 2nd round.
couldn't control my nerves.

i've been wanting to hit up battlefield arcadia.

On the subject of damage scaling, Momochi's links are too nice. Combos like Akuma's, imo, are worth the damage scaling because of the trade off for the stun and having the ability to reset at any time.

Example

Starts at 2:00. I love the reaction of the players to the scaling.

PS Phyre, check the desktop thread.
