I'm guessing it's no longer under warranty. You probably need to just go by a shop that fixes these type of things & hope they can help

Chicks barely dancin, glancin every chance they get, like - oh shit, he's so HANSUM

thats how the red ring always happens. it never just completely stops working out of nowhere you can keep turning it on a few more times but the time gets less and less until it doesnt work at all anymore.

this should fix everything: Here

What colour is the light on the power supply? If it's green, the PSU is fine, if it's yellow/orange, your friend is right.

It is over heating. What is the longest you've left it off for? Leave it off for a day or two. Once it has cooled down for a day, run it in front of a fan, nothing too strong because REALLY cold x hot silicon is a great way to crack it. Unless you're still under the 3 year extended warranty for e74, in which case, do whatever you can to force a hardware failure w/o tampering with the inside.

Put it in your basement or wrap it up and put in freezer for like an hour.

My second xbox got a red ring about a year ago and i was out of warranty so i did the towel trick, haven't seen it get any red rings ever since. Just wrap your xbox in towels and turn it on and let it run for a bit, it'll be hot. Look for a video, it works.
