I want something that offers the best possible value for around $500. I'm trying to steer clear of HP Laptops.

I wanna know this also, Its a little past your price range but I think I will be getting the $750 one I found at bestbuy. 8gigs of ram, 650gb hard drive and a 17.5inch widescreen. I forget what brand it was though

If you are purchasing a laptop, buy Sager, Lenovo, MSI, or Asus. Everything else is pretty much shit.

edit: Oh and if you're buying a ThinkPad, you'll get tired of it before it ever breaks. Trust me, i still have mine running perfectly for 5 years.

uhhh i just got it and ... its a bit bigger than i expected
it's not bad at all for $550 but don't plan on playing any games.

it can play league of legends on lowest settings with decent frames

otherwise its perfect for school besides the size. its pretty light. just kinda fat.
thinkpads are known for never breaking, so.

edit: oh my cousin owns a pretty old thinkpad and he told me one night he had a crazy fuckin dream and when he woke up he was so fuckin scared he threw his laptop across the room and it slammed into the wall and dropped hard as fuck on the floor. it still works.

Both those laptops are basically the same thing.
Those just have a slower processor and slower hard drive than the one i linked.
IMO the thinkpad is worth the price

edit: the battery life on the correct power profile gets me about 6 hours straight.

Seriously, 6 hours? damn, that sounds good. If it was a bit smaller then it'd be perfection. But I guess that's a small price to pay for such good battery life and performance. I guess I'll go with that one then.

Macbook Pro 2009 Aluminum Case.
Guy was selling quick on Craigslist he had some bills to pay or something.
He said first out gets it so I drove across town to get it.
Craigslist has deals you just have to look for it.
OH.It was legit.He had warranty paper and all that other ish.

I've been looking around for smaller and lighter laptops and I found two pretty nice one.
The ThinkPad x120e which is on average like 450
or the HP DM1Z which is suppose to be HP's alternative to the Macbook Air and its like around 500. If they took off the HP logos i'd buy this in a heartbeat.

But idk. I'm gonna wait for a while and see if anything new comes out like the x120e with the new E-450 processor like the DM1Z. Nerd talk probably doesn't matter to you but whatever lol.
