I was wondering how many people use Ubuntu as I was thinking about switching from my Windows 7 64-bit to Ubuntu 11.04, but I want to know would my frequently used programs such as Ableton Live, iTunes, Reason 5 [upgrading to 6 at end of month] suffer. I also game time to time. All I hear is good things for Ubuntu besides the lack of program support. So any help on the decision would be great.

Just because you listed gaming and iTunes as core things you do on your computer, you shouldn't switch to a Linux distro.

no. you have no business running linux if game a lot and already know how to use ableton and reason. there are probably open source programs that will run on linux if those dont, which I dont believe they do, but you'd have to learn a whole new program.

why dual boot?

everything that ubuntu can do, windows can also... and if there are minor things that windows can't, i don't think these minor things are worth dual booting into...
