...Fuckin cable is pricey and I only watch like a handful of those channels... any ideas?!
I've read a bit here & there about Roku, Netflix, Hulu, etc, but not too in depth.
I have a PS3 for streaming & my PC and router are close by...

Shits not the same.
It's not the same if you gotta choose what you wanna watch.. well that's the way i feel. Maybe I'm just a lazy guy, but flipping channels just keeps me mindless and whenever i watch tv i want to be as dull and blankminded as possible.

Seriously. There is nothing like the feeling of flipping through channels. You'll know what I mean when it's gone.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.

This seems like a nice alternative. We've been DirectTV customers since '04 and we used to pay back then just 50 bucks now our bill is almost over $100. I understand that we have the HD and DVR receiver but still.

Add the fact that they have removed BET and VH1 Classic from our plan. idk why.

Been off cable for about 6 months... still get the local news channels which is all I really watch TV for anyways. Anything else I can watch online.

With the money saved I upgraded my internet to 30mbps and its still $30/month cheaper than I was paying before.

to anyone that uses netflix, how is the 1080p streaming? I can get netflix through my TV but was thinking it might be better to pay 9.99 for the ability to get unlimited DVDs. I mainly just want to watch bluray movies. halp plz

The streaming is great. The main problem I have with it, is that after 3 months of use, there's literally no movies I have interest in watching. And they hardly update that shit.

See i know quite a few people who dont have cable and im like, WTF...!?

I have COX cable in San Diego and the channels i really watch that are only available on cable are:
- ESPN channels in HD & english/spanish ESPN channels
- FOX soccer channel and other Fox sports channels
- History channel
- National Geographic
... and the others are shows that are available online like The Office, Family Guy, 30 rock, etc etc.

I read somewhere that this guy had a complete setup through his PC that was basically a DVR and media server to his TV's and basically had everything you could want from TV options?! I know he did have a high MB cable internet connection since he didnt pay for cable, so maybe I should go that route and look into online soccer & sports viewing??! I wish I remember what site that was?!
I basically dont want to lose all the sports channels I watch!! dammmit!

i just went ahead and got the dvds too. gay that you have to pay 2 more dollars for bluray but even still $12 isn't TOO bad. once i go through all the blurays i want probably gonna switch back to just the streaming.

i just watched Rampage while streaming through my TV and was blown away and how good it was. I been missing out on netflix sad

You can watch sports online via ESPN 3. If you have an xbox you already got that down fam.

really? fuck i didnt even know that?! i dont have an xbox, but I can stream anything through my PS3 or go online with the PS3 and then i guess watch ESPN 3 online that route right??
Will paying for a faster internet connection help with streaming??
