PS3: PSN Name Thread

I have the red blinking lights on my ps3...I was updating it one day and it didn't complete just shut off
no yellow light, just doesn't turn on correctly goes straight to the blinking lights
it's a 60gb ps3 btw, any idea how to fix?

Sounds good. I love that they are offering it as an option, not a requirement, like xbox. I don't think I really need these extra features right now, and I can still play online like everyone else without being forced into paying a monthly fee. Very smart by sony, microsoft should take notes.
May 26, 2010 @ 00:35
That's pretty expensive, but I guess the fact that we get to download PSone and minis is worth it. I hope there's a discount deal for yearly subscriptions. They should add a service where we can listen to our own music while playing games. That's a feature I always appreciated on the 360.
May 26, 2010 @ 11:12
It's worse surely, because if you disregard the fact that to play online is free and just compare the paid for services, xbl gold you get to play online, demo access, large library of arcade games etc. and with this psn+ thing you get access to some free games which I'm sure will be limited, slight discounts and game demos and a few other things for almost twice as much.

Btw I'm not saying that xbl is better because you have to pay to play online because well that would just be ignorant.
May 26, 2010 @ 14:54
Well I suppose I was making a pretty shit point but what I was trying to say was that if you compared xbl gold and psn+ then it seems like xbl gold is better value whereas pretty much everyone else here thinks it's just another reason for ps3>xbox, but yeah it's irrelevant lol.

gamers will also receive protection for their consoles with the recently announced PlayStation Protection Plan, as well as exclusive access to the long-awaited cross-game voice chat.

Wait, PS3 doesn't have cross-game voice chat and the ability to listen to music while you play?

Wait, PS3 doesn't have cross-game voice chat and the ability to listen to music while you play? wtf I didn't know that I could swear I was listening to music on my homies PS3 while we were playing COD but maybe that was his stereo. That sucks if true.

InfamousHero - sjem is saying the xbl subscription has more comparative VALUE. Included in xbl's price is the ability to play online. This PSN+ just seems to be a variety of extra, thus the marginal value of what you are purchasing is less.

Yea, it's still clear that ps3 > 360, you're just mad.

I have yet to understand why Fiasco hates on the PS3 so much... Dude is like a 360 ad every time he post. Some points he makes are valid, but its like damn son you own both and you are quick to act like the 360 don't have flaws by any means...

PS3 firmware update 3.40 is available right now
Jun 29, 2010 @ 15:05
To much money, i'd rather stream to my T.V.
Jun 29, 2010 @ 15:52
This isnt that last 5 episodes shit. It's full seasons.

And...

Torrents provide full seasons.
Jun 29, 2010 @ 16:16
i imagine to the people not inclined towards torrents, this is a good deal. it's a lot more convenient. uk can't get hulu cos licensing is a bitch.
Jun 29, 2010 @ 18:21
Cool but absolutely not worth $10 even without considering torrents as an option.
Jun 29, 2010 @ 21:06
This sounds wonderful, and if you get games included then that more than justifies the asking price. Especially if they put some of the money into making the online gaming better. Despite both consoles being in the same place, PSN seems to be more prone to lag than XBL.?)

Sony finally making profits on PS3

From the first day of the PS3's release in 2006 until only recently, every console Sony sold was in fact losing it money. Why? Sony were selling the PS3 for less than it cost to make one. It may sound crazy, but it's how Sony (and Microsoft) have done things for years, opting to sell expensive hardware at a loss while hoping to recoup the investment through software sales.

Well played, Sony. It's been a long, tough road. If you want reference on how long and tough it's been, Nintendo have been making a profit on every Wii sold since it launched in 2006.
