says i can pick it up as early as 7AM on launch day

$599/$699 is the no-commitment price, but it is still locked if you buy in the USA so you'll have to wait until someone releases a method to unlock.

or you can buy from some canadian or european ebayers since their iphones aren't locked. ebay prices are around $1k right now

I'd say slim because ATT ran out of pre-orders but supposedly they're doing a first come first serve basis so you may have a chance.

hey, this topic looks a little dead haha. but anyways, i'm planning on copping an excellent condition 16gb white 3G for $250... is that a good price?? also, i plan to use this phone on tmobile. my question is -if it's firmware is 3.1.3, will i be able to unlock it? i'm getting mixed answers from google so i'm not really sure.

it really depends; but more likely than not if it's not jailbroken already then it's gonna be hard to do so

I just had a 3Gs and I upgraded the firmware to 3.1.3 but I followed a guide that let me jailbrake it and unlock it with PwnageTool (is that what its calledconfused

There's a lot of guides out there; check out modmyi.com
