Definitely going to cop the $250 wi-fi version, I don't find a point in having 3g when everywhere I go theres wifi. Can't wait till they announce a Monster Hunter for this.

Confirmed via xbitlabs

The president of Sony Computer Entertainment on Thursday denied that the company intended to release its next-generation PlayStation Vita portable video game console in Europe and the U.S. this calendar year. Kazuo Hirai stressed that PS Vita would only be available in Japan in 2011.

The product will initially launch in Japan before the end of December, followed by introductions in the U.S. and Europe early next year, Kazuo Hirai, told reporters in Tokyo, reports Bloomberg news-agency.

Late last month a flier from Blockbuster UK store indicated that the PlayStation Vita would hit the shops on the 28th of October, 2011. The flier indicated that both versions of PS Vita - with Wi-Fi as well as with 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity - would become available and also mentioned pricing.

It is not a secret that Sony has tradition to release its consoles first in Japan and only after that roll them out in other regions. In particular, the U.S. is the second market to launch latest Sony video game systems and Europe is the third region to get the new consoles.

ya'll know that the psp vita will be region free, so you can cop one from japan and change the language to english - then play US games on it
unlike the 3DS...

but then again, there won't be any english games til 2012... hmm

ah well, fuck it, gives you kids more time to save

The PlayStation Vita has 512MB of RAM and 128MB of V-RAM, compared to the PlayStation 3's 256MB of system RAM and 256MB of video RAM.

cross game chat confirmed.

THAT SHIT CRAY

And b-low might be right, this thing could potentially become the top gaming device. And selling it for the same price as a ps3 might make things interesting.

From the joystiq article I posted on this page

While "some software titles are capable of saving [saved data] on to the PS Vita card itself," other "PS Vita software titles may require the use of separately sold memory card." Those proprietary memory cards are sold separately in 4, 8, 16, and 32GB varieties with prices ranging from

Sep 17, 2011 @ 17:51
wouldn't 4gb be enough? they're really complicating shit. assuming psv game cards are based on sd cards, why not just leave enough space for game saves and maybe put some internal ssd for installs? or sell the system with a memory card like the last generation?

smfh it's 2011 and we still got memory cards (not even consistently for every game) and fuckin dell-level battery life

tbh i'm still pissed about the battery

people have iphones for that, who wants to listen to music on a portable gaming device? why can't someone just make a dedicated games console, at least for portables
Sep 17, 2011 @ 20:24
that's the 3DS?
Sep 17, 2011 @ 20:55
even that is trying to make itself everything. idk i got issues
Sep 18, 2011 @ 03:10
don't know - the 3DS has options for music, movies and internet, but it doesn't advertise this - even the browser isn't there
right now, its just a games machine, first and foremost - which apparently doesn't sell these days

the Vita looks it's trying to be everything, coupled with 3G and Skype, it basically is...
