Just saw this on SportsNation.

ESPN is reporting that NBA Jam, the popular early 90's arcade basketball franchise, has been rebounded into the hands of EA Sports, with the series set to return to the Nintendo Wii. Fans of the original games will be pleased to know that series creator Mark Turmell has joined EA Sports' roster, and will have a consulting role for the upcoming game.

No other details have been released regarding the new NBA Jam, though ESPN expects EA to have more details later in the month. We've sent word out to EA and will update the article if we hear back regarding the subject. If this turns out to be true, it could be the final nail in the coffin for EA's arcade-style NBA Street franchise.

Don't know about you guys, but this was one of my favorite games growing up. I don't have a wii, but this game's gonna bring back some awesome memories when it comes to video games. Hopefully it doesn't suck and is as good as the original. &)&)&)

I'd like to see Jam make a comeback but I know that's it's gonna be real shitty on the wii. We'll see what happens.

i don't see how its going to be shit on the Wii

jam wasn't about graphics, and if they keep it 2D, it should run well on the Wii

They're probably going to make it based on motion control (because that's all the wii is good for) and I don't see that working for a basketball game.

I was just thinking it would be more along the lines of just using the wii classic remote with just the buttons and stuff and not really the motion control.

I could see that being the case. I don't understand why the wii has that option. Do they want to use the motion control or basically an Super Nintendo controller? Lol I'm not a fan of Nintendo obviously. If they just do a port though and have it available for download that'd be cool. I'd buy it for the ps3 even.

Damn, they are going the wrong way with this, choosing Wii and not Xbox 360 and/or PS3.

The PS2/Xbox NBA Jam was terrible, can't see this being any different.

Yea that would be prolly the best bet. Like if they did just like a downloadable arcade game for 360 for some Microsoft points or whatever. I can't see it being like Madden or NBA type game that goes for 60 bucks or some shit, unless they pull something incredible off.

Yep that wouldn't make sense. I'd pay like $20 or less for it; no where near $60 lmao

Looks pretty close to the original, I wonder how they're going to balance out all the teams though.

While the game will technically be coming to the PS3 and 360, it won't be available individually. Instead, it'll be included as a downloadable title (via a code) in $60 copies of EA's regular basketball title, NBA Elite.

"We're still holding back the Remix Tour for the Wii consumer, and that's about 20 hours of gameplay," EA Sports' Jordan Edelstein tells ESPN. "But for the PS3 and 360, we want people to try 'Elite'. We feel like 'NBA Elite 11' is a great product and we want people to give it a chance and see all the changes we're making. So as a way to say thanks to these people, we are going to let them experience 'Jam'. It's not the full product, but it's a good portion of it.

"And the only way to play 'Jam' on the 360 and PS3 is by picking up 'Elite'. There's a one-time use code that will be in every copy of 'Elite', so you just go online and redeem it. We're not selling 'Jam' on PSN or Xbox Live. If you still want the full product, the full experience is on the Wii, but if you pick up 'Elite', you're still getting a good taste of it, especially with the inclusion of online play."

sad

Yep, just was gonna post that calintz. EA always finds a way to fuck consumers, whether it's with new madden games with useless new features or with shit like this. They already know nobody will buy Elite so now they're forcing people to in order to get this.
