Hi I got a question about macbook thinking about getting.
macbook unibody for 750. Perfect condition. everything but no box and applecare until Jan 2010. Good deal?
Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GHz. 2 GB of memory. 13"
Still debating but good cheap price. It's either that or buy new one for 1100.
Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

get a new one. the newer ones have better battery life and won't have a warranty that you'll need to extend in the next 3 months.

It just depends on what you need but i'm pretty sure the new 1100 one has 4gb of ram instead of two plus the better battery, so if you're willing and a bit loose on money you might go with the new one.

The 13" ($1100) has 2GB RAM.

Oh my bad then, it'd still be worth it for the Apple care and the fact that it's new and slightly faster.

geek tool:

install it, find it in your system pref. and apply scripts
scripts from: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=628023
then just move each one across your desktop

bowtie:

install, it should come with some default themes
as soon as you have itunes open, it should detect the song and album cover
you can get other bowtie themes on http://macthemes2.net/forum/viewforum.php?id=2
(look for thread with [bowtie] in the title)

what else you need?

This thread is so awesome, it made me log in and post for once. I almost certain I want a mac now, but the difference in price between a mac and a build from ibuypower has me hesitant.

try blowing on the key's sometimes stuff get under the sensors.
If that doesn't work then tell apple to fix the sensor on it or something, my macbook pro's return/enter key is loose too and it hasn't even been a month since i bought it.

yup. My 24" iMac gets really hot after about 25 min of just surfing the web (about 48C). SMCFanControl lets me turn up the fan speeds to cool down my HD. Now it NEVER goes above 50C, only during the summer, I live in socal...

Candy Bar - lets you change icons including ones on the dock
Snood - game, time killer
Adium - chat client, does aim, gchat, msn, etc.
Growl - comes with adium does notifications in the corner
iStat - runs in your menu bar and gives you system info like cpu use, mem use, hard drive space available, temps, fan speeds, etc
App delete - when you delete a program on a mac it normally leaves files behind, use this and it gets everything
VLC - video player that does wmv and other formats quicktime doesnt support

Everything is free except for candybar and that only $30.
