i know you get $50 off the macbook, $100 off the macbook pros and as far as imacs im not sure.

pretty bummed about the lame back to school offer, i really wanted an ipod touch. however im still gonna wait for the $100 gift card, if you notice it doesnt say "itunes" it says mac app store, and im figuring the mac apps --used on the laptops and desktop macs not the portable devices-- are not as easy to pirate, or maybe they are, who knows. either way if im spending a chunk of my savings for the mbp im gonna get as much free shit as i can, im in no rush, i have a working comp and classes dont start anytime soon.

EDIT: just checked apple.com and it seems they are now giving $100 discount on the white polycarbonate macbooks, i know for a fact it was only $50 before. still no sign of the back to school promo on the site.

DOUBLE EDIT: i just remembered that OSX Lion is gonna be sold exclusively on the MAc App Store, so if you save your gift card you can use it to buy Lion when it comes out, instead of paying for it out of pocket, if i recall correctly its not even ganna be that expensive so youll even have money left over. i guess its not all that bad after all, free ipod wouldve still been better.

TRIPLE EDIT OMG: lion is only gonna be 29.99 in the mac app store, so yeah. editing post is fun fun fun

What do y'all find more fitting for a med school student - an iMac or an MacBook Pro? My cousin was thinking about getting an iMac for his dorm, but I told him that a laptop would definitely be more convenient. He was going to do an iMac/iPad combo, leaving him with processing power when needed, but mobility as well when he's on the go. He's basically on a limitless budget, so he's now considering the higher-end 15" MBP, for roughly $2,000 (some extras added on through Apple.com).
