@Koedog, Yeah I realized after I posted but I figured someone would correct me.

Also I know It's a strange question but what can I use to clean the screen? The cloth provided just makes it worse, Is there some safe cleaning solution I can use or can I just use a damp microfiber cloth?

if you ever have a problem with your computer, the first thing they'll ask is do you have apple certified ram. so if you go that route, make sure you keep the original ram. the ram they use is nicer and is covered by their warranty. I don't think they really care about the hard drive, but I would keep that too just in case.

This is gonna be my first Mac AND first laptop. Can't wait to get the 13" Pro. I'm glad Snow Leopard has a lot of "under the hood" enhancements.

what's one of the best cases for a macbook pro 13"
also a keyboard and track pad area cover.
August 26, 2009 @ 21:30:16
for torrents use transmisson.

This is what I use. What's the difference between Vuze and Transmission??

Also, if you want to play PC games I suggest you use Crossover. That's how I play CS on STEAM. I get 99fps, but then again I got the 24" aluminum iMac.

If you want to customize your dock use Candybar. Album cover for your iTunes use Bowtie.

To do shit like this you're going to need Geektool.

Do your guys' Macs get really hot? Mine does so I downloaded a program called SMC Fan Control which lets me change the RPM's of my fans. It cools the HD and stuff...

Here's an example of what I did to my desktop with some of the things I mentioned above:

EDIT: If you need some programs that you want to "try before you buy," drop me a PM...
August 26, 2009 @ 21:54:34
i'd like a quick run down on cross over. as i'd like to play cs on my macbook.

I'll try to explain without getting too technical. Crossover works like VMWare or Parallels but of instead of installing a full version of windows it creates a "bottle" that you install the game or program into. The bottle contains enough info to make the windows app think it is running on a full windows system.

If you need step by step instructions on how to install STEAM through Crossover lemme know.

everyone getting the 13inch ones?

you gettin em cuz they are the cheapest ones or the 15inch ones are big?

i cant decide between these two..13for portability,15for movies etc :/ dunno if the 13inch wont be too small for watching movies etc. copping next week, gotta decide asap
August 27, 2009 @ 20:45:00
Grab the lower end 15, the specs are fine if you're running memory intense programs. You can always pick up extra ram/larger HD for cheap. Love the backlit keyboard, too.

Anybody know any simple shell commands for GeekTool or Mac in general?

I just want that shit to say the time in a 12hr format, that's it, and I can't find any tuts. via Google I just found some dev. notes but of course, they're written for other devs. so I have no fucking idea what they say.
