I don't like to be that person who keeps re-posting their designs but I have had a couple people PM regarding the designs. Thanks in advance for the feedback.
For my first design I was looking at a lot of Nick's designs and wanted to emulate his flat two and three color designs like the up coming "I Shine" tee and past classics like "Cannot Duplicate" tee. I feel that some of the best Diamond tee's have been large to full front prints. Something that stands out when people are out skating the streets. The colorways were no brainers as I did one based on the Tiffany Dunk. The brand really came into fruition because of that shoe and it remains as one of the top 5 shoes of all time - in my mind and the likes of Complex and Sole Collector. The Tiffany colorway really represents Nick making an opportunity that changed his life forever (I won't go into the detail of the story as most know it). The LA colorway reflects the Lakers and represents a team or in this case a brand at the top of its game.
Diamond has also put out a couple really great photo print tees from the memorable MJ Tribute to the Cold As Ice and Colder Than Ice tees. I took that idea and wanted to mesh the two different styles together. The photo print with the flat one or two color prints. I obviously had to adapt the Diamond photo to fit within the boundaries of the Diamond logo.
The final one kind of came to me through the Paul Rodriguez x Nike SB commercial 'Today was a Good Day'. Seeing that Paul is a member of the Diamond team seemed only fitting to incorporate the today was a good day mentality. It came to me to use the well known phrase Carpe Diem and after playing around with the design a bit decided to appropriate the Diamond script logo and use the font style to use Diem making the immediate connection to the Diamond brand.
