Just think of it this way, If you want to wear a sweater under the jacket. Buy a large. If you want to wear it out casually and just wear a t shirt under it buy a Medium.

No matter what it is a Large always fits me whether it'd be a varsity jacket, field jacket,flannels. I always go with large
