Yo J, just out of curiosity, what other brands are you into besides Rogue/DTA?

Inspired by most brands, I think anyone who puts themselves into what they do should be respected and admired. Most crews out now are doing that. It's hard enough swimming in these waters, climate is icey and you really can't trust anyone.

Although I don't fully subscribe to the DTA mentality, I give respect to anyone who can get past our differences and see each for what we bring to the table.

Check the film if you get a chance..

I, for one, can't wait for the season long barbs hurled back and forth based on our baseball alliances. (we finally got rid of the dead weight known as Vernon Wells cool)

Back to back. Much respect for that Jay, I fully stand behind someone who sticks to their guns and doesn't just follow someone/thing just because it's "cool" or it sells. Affiliations to stay afloat and find a new audience and *infect* new people is always a good thing and I'm sure anyone who has been around here for a minute can tell that you do your damn thing no matter what. Much love.

5th COLUMN VI [THE KIDS WILL HAVE THEIR SAY] SPRING 2011 PREVIEW
5th COLUMN VI [THE KIDS WILL HAVE THEIR SAY] SPRING 2011 PREVIEW

II. [THE KIDS WILL HAVE THEIR SAY]

Motivated by what I learned as a youth growing up in the NYHC scene. It's taught me pure revolutionary values, a love for different kinds of music and cultures and a proactive way of looking at life. As a kid, the older bands showed me the way through some tough times in a city and a world that was very different than it is today. Agnostic Front, 7 Seconds, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of today, Judge, Side by Side, Sheer Terror, Maximum Penalty all had different ways of getting across the same positive message to us. These lyrics still resonate with me, the lessons are still there even if that scene is not.

The straight edge bands from Boston : DYS, Slapshot, Impact Unit, and of course SSD (Society System Decontrol) had the same message but the sound was very different than what was happening in NY and I believe it molded what we all did in 90's when the NEW youth crew emerged at A7.

For the center piece of 5th Column VI [THE KIDS WILL HAVE THEIR SAY] I wanted to bring back the same call to arms but revamp it for a newer generation of kids who haven't had their say yet. Instead of rising up I see a younger generation being held down and silenced now more than ever, I fear it will take more than a positive message from a 7" record to lift these young minds from the grave. The youth will always hold the power, power of the mind and heart that will incite real change one day soon.

[Gotta stick together like glue, like crew -SSD]

We don't care what you say
Cause you don't have a mind
Our message true so you can screw
The truth is there to find
Kill them all just for kicks
What a world we have to fix
Marched them and lit the flame
Society System you're to blame
Stole their land and
Raped their wives
Society System destroyed their lives
Atomic bombs on helpless Japs
Those attitudes are yours,
We won't be trapped
The kids will have their say
The kids will rise today
Push us under and call us names
Try to feed us chemicals
To make us tame
The sixties showed
The strength of youth
The war showed you
The fuckin truth
Play with our lives as if a toy
Now you'll see the difference
Through the strength of Oi
Think we're pussys afraid to fight
Then enter our pit and feel our might
The kids will have their say
The kids will rise today
Our union can't be broken as they will try
We'll be united till each of us die

The Ides of March (Latin: Idus Martii) is the name of 15 March in the Roman calendar, probably referring to the day of the full moon. The term ides was used for the 15th day of the months of March, May, July, and October, and the 13th day of the other months. The Ides of March was a festive day dedicated to the god Mars and a military parade was usually held. In modern times, the term Ides of March is best known as the date that Julius Caesar was killed in 44 B.C. Julius Caesar was stabbed (23 times) to death in the Roman Senate led by Marcus Junius Brutus, Gaius Cassius Longinus and 60 other co-conspirators.

5th Column VI [THE KIDS WILL HAVE THEIR SAY] SPRING 2011 Preview
III. [EYE CONTACT] Our homage to the guro book of Japan and a precursor of our upcoming collaborations

エログロ [Ero guro nansensu, characterized as a "prewar, bourgeois cultural phenomenon that devoted itself to explorations of the deviant, the bizarre, and the ridiculous," manifested in the popular culture of Taishō Tokyo during the 1920s. Writer Ian Buruma describes the social atmosphere of the time as "a skittish, sometimes nihilistic hedonism that brings Weimar Berlin to mind." Its roots go back to artists like Yoshitoshi, who, besides erotic shunga, also produced, in the mid-1860s, woodblock printings showing decapitations and acts of violence from Japanese history. Ukiyo-e artists such as Utagawa Kuniyoshi presented similar themes with bondage, rape, and erotic crucifixion.]
