Charlie Noble Clothing is a collaborative effort of designer Mike B., artist Jimmynude, and outdoorsman Jay H. With designs from independent artists, our intention is to provide comfortable clothing with a creative edge.
The future of Charlie Noble lies in the expansion of an artistically driven brand, focused not only on the continual creation of original graphic t-shirts, but also on garments intended to be subtle, refined versions of common workwear and the clothing of our military brethren.
Charlie Noble is named for a ship Captain in the 19th century. He was famous for making his crew polish the galley smokestack on the ship because it was made out of copper. Either he was meticulous about keeping a clean ship, probably to the point of having OCD, or he was a tyrant for making the crew keep a smokestack clean. With little else known about him, his true character is up for discussion, but we like his attention to detail and this is the essence of Charlie Noble Clothing.
Over the course of the last century, sailors used to build camaraderie and release frustration by participating in smoker fights onboard the ship while underway. These were boxing matches typically conducted on the deck of the ships, and were called smokers after the traditional term for unsanctioned amateur boxing matches. We wanted to pay tribute to this timeless tradition along with honoring the original sea-going caricature. We’ll let you guess who that may be.
Not much to say with this one, other than we wanted to honor all those who have served at sea. Titled after our namesake to keep it simple.
