I want to buy a sweater and a polo shirt.
I'm 6 ft, and I'm wondering if a Large in both will fit nicely. I'm more concerned about the sweater though. Should i get a Medium in that?

Get a large. I'm like 5'8 and a medium fits me; it'd be too small for you unless you are skinny as hell.
thanks for the input. Do you also advise to get a large for dress shirts? My concerns for the sweaters and dress shirts are that they don't go so far beyond the belt level. Around the pocket-level is just about good.
I can wear either a small or medium in dress (oxford) shirts, the sizing is weird and it varies among the different models. I live by a j. crew store so I can try them on. I think you could probably get away with a medium, if you are wanting to wear one under a sweater and have it stick out a little bit... though it might be tight around your chest and arms.

I own a couple of urban slim fit chinos. they fit pretty true to size.sizing down sometimes is suggested imo.
