Whats a better location or place to stay for someone visiting London. Oxfords Street area or Central London? Like what areas better for all the tourist type stuff as well as just getting a good feel of the city and people. Any other advice is good also? Hope the riots end soon....

Personally I would say Oxford circus is the best place for somebody visting london. You got all the tourist stuff but you also have loads of cool shops around Carnaby street and then you got like the luxury retailers on bond street. Everything is real close together.

and the riots ended a little while ago dude smile

If by touristy you mean shopping, then oxford circus, if by touristy things to do i suggest somewhere a little down south, south kensington/knightsbridge area for the museums.

If you don't care about sharing your room (but not a bed obviously), check Picadilly Backpackers, as it is super central and really cheap.
