Seriously, there's nothing half as good on television right now. So I officially made this thread so all the wire heads can come in here and talk about how good it was and bitch about nobody ever watching it

Best show ever. Though the fifth season felt a little wacky to me. I don't wanna spoil it too much but McNulty goes off the fucking deep end.

And did anyone watch Homicide: Life on the Streets or The Corner? Both made by the same people. I saw The Corner and read the book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets which was a basis for The Wire and Homicide. Both very dope.

I liked the Newspaper angle, had some good characters. David Simon (the writer) was a staff member of the baltimore sun before he went onto work on Homicide, The Corner, and the Wire and apprently he had a big problem with the higher-ups there. This was basically his chance to vent. My only problem with that season was McNulty's story.

marlow is just so gangsta.

That show was hard, unfortunately my parents are cheap and waited until 2007 to finally budge and get HBO. As a result I got to see the final season in it's entirety but I didn't see the beginning episodes. Does anyone know where I can watch the previous seasons online?

ahh.. the wire, it was a well put together show. i live in baltimore so at first i was like man f*** this b.s. show, but when i finally watched it i got with the program. i remember a dude from philly telling me that the wire ain't have s*** on b-more in real life. he was like i never heard of fiends, rock monsters, junkies being out all night looking for drugs. even when there was no one serving them, i had to laugh cuz i'm used to seeing it so much i thought it happened everywhere.

just finished the 4th season, gotta say it has been my favorite season so far.
Main Reasons:

AND MY ALL TIME FAVORITE FO-EVA MISTAH OMAR

I don't think there is one actor on the show who doesn't have me convinced. sad knowing that I only have one season left until this journey is over and most people hate on it sad

Other characters that just fucking rule:
prop joe
bodie (sad)
culvin was starting to become cool
I like daniels and that slutty redhead cool

i feel like 'white' cop dramas are everywhere. NYPD Blue, ncis, csi, the closer, cold case, yada yada. The Wire was the first urban cop drama that had superb acting(mcnulty, bunk, stringer bell, avon barksdale,weebay/daniels),great storyline, diverse cast, and an authentic feel. Nothing seemed fake, or forced. It was praised by street cats because of the 'realness' about the city, drugs, corruption however the shows most popular season and my personal favorite was season 2 down at the docks.

Really enjoyed the mcnulty/bunk/greggs/daniels/freamon cop cast. they were great. criminals like stringer/avon/weebay were great together.

And the baddest, coldest most ruthless castmember was a killer. And a fag? Damn. Thats pushing the limits.

Plus Baltimore was a great setting for the story.

All in all The Wire was better for me than the Sopranos. By a mile. A long one at that.

man, shit is really sad with what happens with dukie, michael, and randy at the end of the show. got mad teary eyed when michael and dukie had to say bye to bugs; later to find out that dukie would shoot heroin with the homeless guys, and michael would live a life of being a stickup artist.
