Wassup Rockers

New film by Larry Clark (Kids, Bully, Ken Park).
Its about a group of South Central kids who are punk rock/skater kids. They get fucked with by everyone in their hood, then go to Beverly Hills to skate and.. well.. some crazy shit goes down. Pretty funny movie, not nearly as controversial/thought out as Kids. Kind of like Larry Clark toned himself down and made a light comedy.

Worth seeing if it sound interesting to you.

Real good movie. I love realistic, documentary-type movies like this. It shows another side to America that the mainstream crowd dont see everydayblushing

Larry Clark can't make a decent movie. All he knows is to get one or two compisition shots in a flick and that's supposed to make up for the lack of dialogue, script, and subtext. Thinking your showing the world "the ins" of a youth subculture when you make all your characters one dimensional stereotypes isn't working.

Larry Clark does too many movies that involve underage kids...it's a little creepy.

Saw it opening weekend. I liked it but not as good as Kids. Better than Bully.

I actually saw that. Late night on TV. It was funny in an unintentional way. When I told Tara Subkoff I enjoyed it she said, "Oh, so you're the one. I knew we'd find you." Anyway, I liked Kids and Bully, but Clark's obsession with teenagers in his films and photography are a bit disturbing. Judging by the trailer, I'll wait for this on video.

If you're from around the area then you would know that these kids are easily relatable. I suggest to all the LA Heads to speak up in my opinion, this movie is a worthy representation of most of us (latino, hispanic, however you choose to identify yourselves) in this part of the country. I easily related either myself, or a friend/person I have known throughout my life. No movie has hit me with such impact. [/endthread]

cosign. I pretty much said the same thing about him in the Kids thread. Gave Wassup rockers a chance the other week and thought it was pretty awful. He's a decent photographer but as a filmmaker he always seem to opt for the cheap and easy way out; there's very little in term of substantive artistic integrity or soul to his films.

Thank you. I mean, how many times did you come home not knowing where your homie ended up simply because it was impossible to get a hold of him/her once more? Not knowing what would happen the next day. Seeing homies from way back once more and asking the question: how you been?

Fuuuuck!
