www.imdb.com/title/tt1125849/

I've always been a big fan of Mickey Rourke's films. He is very underappreciated and overlooked. He's one of the best actors of these past generations, imo.

Supposedly, they call this movie his 'comeback' film, although I think Sin City already has that title. Still, I hear overwhelmingly positive reviews from this movie. If Mickey goes out of his way to clean himself up, his image, and his career, I think we could have a serious return.

Oh, and it's directed by Darren Aronofsky, who was offered to direct Batman Begins but refused. Still, one of the best directors of our time. Plus, the composer for Requiem for a Dream is composing this movie's score. cool

Let's hope at least one of these guys gets an Oscar nod. They truly deserve it.

yeah i hope Mickey wins the Oscar for this. haven't seen it yet, but it's my most anticipated film of the near future. based on what i've read about it, i dig that DA was able to take a simple story full of cliched archetypes about a subject of marginal interest (well to those who see pro wrestling as a joke, at least) and make an existentialist epic out of it.

Darren is very often like that. Reason why he's one of the top ranking directors.

So far, the Best Actor to-be nominations aren't so really great. Mickey Rourke outshines most of them.

I'm a big Mickey Rourke fan too, he's a very under appreciated and talented actor, can't wait to see this film. I saw him a couple weeks ago at a bar in Manhattan, dude was doing lines in the corner but was pretty chill.

actually, WB panicked and the project failed, he didn't refuse. Bale was actually going to sign onto his version before it went to shit.

Aronofsky is doing the Robocop reboot though, so that should be good. At least in the same way verhoeven introduced intelligent themes into a sci-fi actioner, but I digress.

Yeah this movie looks great, saw a clip on a show here and looked very good. They did their research on in-ring action and Rourke was explaining he actually cut himself to get his head to bleed with a razor - like they do in the real thing..

Oh of course!

Respect for anyone who doesn't get sucked into popular opinion tbh. I mean the way you dismissed it deserves credit, even did it without any knowledge on this movie whatsoever!! So you obviously know your stuff man!!

I have this desire for Rourke to pull an upset and take the Oscar.

But that's just really wishful thinking. I hope he lays off the coke as soon as possible, and return to acting seriously. This is a call for him.

Didn't have high hopes since I've always thought wrestling was kinda stupid, but I really liked this movie. Mickey Rourke was great and Marisa Tomei was straight milf.

Movie didn't really do it for me, that's not to say it wasn't good, I'm just sick of these sort of indie movies, after the first 20 you've watched, it gets old. All the performances were good, I just don't think there was enough there for Mickey to pull the Oscar away from Penn, Del Toro, or Pitt.

Great movie, saw it last night and it's easily one of my favorites of the year. Mickey Rourke deserves the Oscar for best actor, he was very convincing as a wrestler and I don't know anybody couldn't feel for his character. Also, damn was that hardcore match rough looking.
