I have to disagree with you about that fast food analogy, If I were to put it in those terms both shows would be considered gourmet. The thing that makes Mad Men an exceptional show for me aside from the acting is the fantastic writing. If you really pay attention to shit on the show you will notice a lot of amazing symbolism and double meanings to everything that goes on, the whole show is multi-layered. Breaking Bad does the same thing but theres more action in it which is why people might give it an edge when comparing the two.

Ok I feel you. Mad Men is gourmet too but Mad Men is 3 star and Breaking Bad is 5 star. I'm not saying Mad Men sucks because I'm a fan. I'm just saying it's not thought provoking like Breaking Bad which I prefer. Breaking Bad has drama and action which is why it's more satisfying to me.

Yeah everyone watches these types of shows differently, thats what makes them so good. They can entertain people on a bunch of different levels.

I cannot honestly think or say Don will be happy with his wife. Im sure they will split up...but then again hes a box full of surprises.

Season 5 set to premier with a two hour episode on March 25 (Monday).

The wait has been too long and I hope they don't fuck it up.

Any ideas on how long the time lapse would be?

with it being renewed til a seventh season i think it might have to unless just the ones after this are close together. the gap between 4 and 5 must be kinda big. they've recasted bobby before but i don't think they could afford to ever recast sally.

thinking the same thing. they've really developed sally's character in season 3 and 4, so i dont think they would recast. but she should prob hit puberty in a few years so they'll have to push the story forward to match her appearance. by then, the show could dip into the 70's.

i remember reading some article with matt weiner (the creator of the show) and he mentioned that he's thought about idea of ending the show (whenever that happens) in the present time. so the last episode would have an old man don draper. i think that could be really interesting.

in fact, i wouldn't mind some spin-off version of this show about Bobby Draper being some high profile investment banker in the 80's. it'd be like Wall Street (the movie): the show.

imo i think a spin off would but terrible. i cant imagine how this show would depict the 70's and 80's. with that said, i cant wait for the premiere. going to be rewatching season 1-4 again

idk about a spin-off cos i think with this style of show running for this long he'll say everything he wants to say the first time then move on to something else entirely.

but i remember reading that he feels the 60s, in its sensibility, overlaps into the first 2 years or so of the 70s and that there's nothing that would stop him going there. and also that there's no plan to end it on new year's or anything.
