Holyyy fuck that trailer looks amazing. Dexter telling the kids abour rita will be the saddest scene ever. And now Quinn is pretty much dexters biggest problem so itll be interesting to see how he deals with him.

That and he's done a lot of other shit. He let trinity kill Rita and the FBI dude, indirectly led to Doakes' death, among other shit.

season premiere could have been better imo. was still good to watch tho. I thought it just went in circles. but from the overview of the season to come, it looks like its gonna get intense again soon enough.

still getting kinda tired with the on-the-nose voiceovers. in the best dexter episodes, the rest is enough to overlook it, but this wasn't one of the best. still, good to see quinn being a better version of doakes -- i.e. no axe to grind. another nitpick would be dexter killing outside of the code, yet again. this is the third time, after miguel's cousin or whatever, and that one guy in season 4 that was mistaken. they do things like this and then gloss over what it means to dexter. it is very much going in circles, like the guy above me says.

lol don't get me wrong, doakes was the reason for the most exciting part of the show -- but his punch first, ask questions later style is what fucked him over. he should've collected evidence and given it in, instead of trying to take him down.

this show disappoints me at times; i don't expect this kinda "dragging out a series" thing from a network that i assume allows complete creative control. the way stories are told on this show makes me wonder why it's even on showtime. or how showtime is fucking up such a golden opportunity to be to hbo what amc is.

but cmon, the premise is so good i can't not watch it. IT'S A SHOW ABOUT A SERIAL KILLER.

I'm so glad someone else agrees with me. There are so many little things about the show that bother me.

The main thing being, and probably the main problem with the show in general, is that Dexter is a sociopath. Now, being a sociopath means you have NO EMOTIONS, which they definitely make a point to show. However, being a sociopath means that he can't gain emotions. He will never grow to care for people. It seems like they realized that now and are trying to have him go back to his old, emotionless ways. The problem with this is that there is no room for growth in his character. Conversely, any growth in character they tried to show (him caring for Rita, Astor, and Cody last season) comes across as bullshit and made up by the writers just to please the masses. I feel like there's no direction...
