Sony has offered Colin Farrell the lead role in Columbia Pictures' "Total Recall" remake.
Farrell received the offer last week and has since been in negotiations with Sony. He would play a man tortured by recurring dreams of a trip to Mars, a role that was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the original 1990 pic.
Farrell, Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender also had been considered for the role.
The "Total Recall" reboot, to be directed by Len Wiseman from a script by Kurt Wimmer, will contemporize author Philip K. Dick's source story, "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale." Farrell's casting would help contemporize the pic, offering a stark contrast to Schwarzenegger's persona.
new wolverine movie will ignore the 2009 one. it'll be called "the wolverine", and be set in japan, centred around a love story. cannot believe aronofsky is doing this.

Denis Leary is the latest name to join the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Leary is said to be in negotiations to play Police Captain George Stacy, father to Peter Parker's love interest, Gwen Stacy (to be played in the film by Emma Stone).
Captain Stacy was played in 2007's Spider-Man 3 by James Cromwell. In the comic book continuity, Stacy loses his life during a battle between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus. Not knowing that he and Peter are the same person, Gwen blames Spider-Man for the tragedy.
Leary also joins Andrew Garfield as Peter, Martin Sheen as Ben Parker and Rhys Ifans in an unspecified villian role.

We recently caught up with Unstoppable director Tony Scott - who's driving Millar's proposed Nemesis film - and came away with the following nuggets of info:-
* He'll be using more CGI than in Unstoppable
* Big names and unknowns are already attached

In the latest issue of the British movie magazine Total Film, they offer a preview of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit, which will start production soon after years of delays and setbacks. Months ago, we saw a little bit of Hobbiton, Bilbo Baggins' home in The Shire being built in New Zealand, but thanks to the pictures in the latest issue, we can see that building on that distinctive set is pretty much complete. The preview of the issue they've put on their site is fairly small so we can't get a lot of details but surely, there's some stuff of note that can be found if you buy the physical magazine on the newstand.
