My thoughts are that it's too far off in the future to be excited for yet.

However, i would love to see a story set before episode 1, but i guess it will be about vaders come-up which is dope too.

I'm honestly stoked, J.J Abrams is one of my favorite directors right next to Tarantino. I think he can really make the film great, can't wait.

JJ Abrams is Steven Spielberg's bitch. getting JJ to direct star wars allows spielberg to nut all over it and influence it without attaching his name to it and stepping on George Lucas's feet.

this almost went o Ben Affleck.

this is episode 7. darth vader died at the end of episode 6. he was a child in episode 1. vader's come up would be like episode 3.5 or something.

it depends on when the story takes place. my money is that episode vii is gonna take place about 30-ish years after episode vi. that way they can bring back as many of the original actors as they can (assuming they're game to come back - many have already said they would).

fans are way too overprotective of these characters and recasting just sets them up for impossible obstacles. it'd be much easier to get fans to accept brand new characters with no expectation, than accepting new actors replacing what everyone's familiar with.

also, rumor has it that Zak Snyder has been pegged to direct a darker/adult Star Wars movie outside of the official trilogy/storyline sometime in the future.

that's extended universe, and not written by or assisted by George Lucas. But if they don't use at least SOME elements from extended universe people will be ultra pissed.
