Caught it last week in IMAX, excellent film yeah the colours were so bright especially when he was on the boat to the casino looked awesome

Villian was good too

I thought they were hinting towards DC's last movie with the whole "it's a young mans game" and him failing the tests etc but according to my mate hes signed up for another 2 films and the way it ended with the whole M money-penny Q team getting assembled gives it a good outlook for the future

yeah i feel like there was a lot of old/new stuff going on, a bunch of the dialogue was kinda meta w them describing the ship and everyone talking about how old-fashioned spies are. it was the perfect way to modernise bond imo just like when batman wants to be able to turn his head. little moments

the apparent juxtaposition was really entertaining. how they weaved today's rampant cybercrime and an old-fashioned authority figure were too perfectly embodied in both bond and bardem. nice way to bring heart and nostalgia to a franchise that was a bit off the beaten path in the past. bardem's homo tendencies were lulz

yup. Sam Mendes (director of skyfall) specifically stated that Nolan's TDK was an inspiration for this movie, and one of the reasons he felt confident he could make Skyfall

Craig is the best bond in my opinion. It took a while but he grew on me. Crazy good movie. Loved all 3.

there were so many cool moments. the first shot w bond and the bond theme, the aston martin, silva molesting bond, etc etc

i just watched it again and noticed the whiskey silva gets for bond is 50 years old, like bond. and a ton of other stuff i didn't get, like skyfall being bond's past and having it burn down, or the resurrection thing.

i think the villain dying tends to be anti-climactic because the villains are just tools used to tell the heroes' story, like silva showing what bond might have become in some alternate universe. in a different kind of film w a different focus, maybe the villain's death would be more poignant.

*SPOILERS*

For the most part I enjoyed it. Not as good as Casino Royale, much better than Solace. Some of the pacing was kinda off putting for me though. Bond appearing in the bed/hut of a woman after being shot, TWICE, and floating in a river and no explanation is one example. Show us something, anything, even a small scene of him washing ashore somewhere to rationalize that unless we just assume he's Bond and he deedit, just like Bruce Wayne.

The China scenes also felt really rushed or out of place to me too. The sex trafficked girl I thought would play a bigger part than just an envoy and a death, but I understand her role I suppose. Driving home the point that his job always involves people dying and even those you think you can save end up dying.
