The Science of Sleep, another Gondry film. I thought it was pretty lame but it's got the same 'romance vibe'.

I <3 Huckabees had a weird vibe like that too, definitely for fans of The Science of Sleep.

there was an article i read a while back (can't find it now) but it lists
- eternal sunshine
- 500 days of summer
- lost in translation
- punch drunk love
- garden state
- some more movies i can't remember
as a new genre of "romance movies for guys"

I'd say more just 'romance movies that aren't shit'. Punch-Drunk Love is a really good recommendation too.

My favorite movie of all time. It feels a little childish to some people but I fuckin dig it.

Wristcutters might fit what you're looking for. I thought it was meh but my homies loved it.

it was talking about how most romance movies are from the female character's perspective, but eternal sunshine, 500 days, etc are more from the male's perspective.
