You gotta consider that Jaime is one of the greatest Knights in Westeros while Ned is a Lord who hasn't seen combat since Robert took the throne and there's an age gap.

Having read the books, watching people speculate about what happens next is about as fun as actually watching the show.

Honestly, not really. They've actually stuck very close to the books. They've skipped over a ton of back story and character development. In the book you find out a lot more about the mythology and history of the world and secondary characters like the different members of the Night's Watch, the Hound and his brother, and Theon Greyjoy. It's understandable why they skip over it...you'd spend 5 seasons on the first book otherwise. I'm surprised they've been able to fit in as much info and as many characters as they have.

Finally saw episode 7 and all I can say is wow, the ending was the biggest cock tease ever. But it seems that Ed Stark keeps taking L's, hopefully he can come back and completely shit on the Lanisters.

there's a spoiler-free guide on the hbo site. has characters, the map, house sigils, etc.

i definitely can't wait til the series is over so i can read these books. i'd be over-analysing everything otherwise.

and idk how ned can get out of this. unless the dothraki invasion puts them in a "stick together to defend our land" kinda situation and he's able to take advantage cos of his wartime experiences.

I've read the books too and do you know if they're actually going to stick to the book 100% or is there talk that they will deviate at some point ?
