True Grit is a novel by Charles Portis that was written in 1968. They made it into a movie in 1969 starring John Wayne, but from what I understand, they did not stick that closely to the novel. The Coen brothers have stated that their film is a more faithful adaptation. The book is really good, so if you enjoy reading, you might want to pick up a copy before the film comes out this Christmas.

Plot:
Portis

i'm the best mayne, i deed it

The Coen brothers are usually hit and miss for me, sometimes I can't understand some of the praise they get but they have made some seriously great films (No Country, Big Lebowski). I reckon they're gonna do a really good job with this one though.

Barton Fink? I hated that...

I'm a big fan of Raising Arizona and The Hudsucker Proxy, though.

Would have preferred Rooster Cogburn and the Lady.

True Grit looks like it's gonna be incredible. And how could you hate Barton Fink unless you enjoy being in a state of catharsis while you watch movies?

Ive heard of this since it's EARLY pre-production stage and love how it's near to release.

Coens only made like 3 whatever types of films(Fink,Ladykillers and A serious man) the rest are perfect. No doubt this one will be great as well

You haven't seen Fargo? sad

A Serious Man is a loose translation of the book of Job. Hit me hard given some circumstances; that "why me?" question tends to linger.
