Film Club Thing

Alright so I'm pretty bored and I just thought about this. Would anyone on here be interested in doing some sort of thing where we pick say one film a week then share opinions/thoughts on it in this thread. The films don't have to be recent and this would be easier than a book club as everyone can pretty easily get access to said film and 2 hours a week isn't that much tbh.

If enough of us are up for it (8+ maybe) I'll make an official thread for suggestions etc.

Alright so I've made a list of everyone that's interested and i'm sure there'll be at least a few more who want to do it so if anyone wants to make suggestions as to what the film should be go ahead and i'll make a poll on wednesday to decide the first film. Only limitations are that it has to be already out on DVD/Blu-ray and that it's about (or less than) 2hrs in length unless everyone doesn't mind a lengthier one.

Edit: And i'll take any other suggestions on better ways to run this.

Well... I think a good way to do it would be to have the suggestions go in order.

IE: you pick the first movie. Next week, someone else. Etc. And we go in order 'til everyone picks then it goes back to you and we start the cycle over again.

Also, whoever is picking the movie could include a link to a torrent or somewhere to watch it online or something like that.

Alright yeah that sounds like a good idea and we'll use the order that i put in the opening post to determine when everyone picks the film.

Do you think it would be best if we did each film for a week, say I pick the film on friday and make a thread about it then whoever's next picks the film for the next friday, or is that not enough time. I think that two weeks might be better but I doubt that the threads/discussion would be very active.

Alright so I've updated the list again and obviously anyone can still join but that will be the order for the choosing of the first 11 films.

As long as films over 2 hours are alright I'm picking Into The Wild as the first week's film. I'll make an official thread on Wednesday but you can start watching it from whenever.

Zilla, pm me with your chosen film whenever you feel like it between now and next Tuesday and I'll get a thread set up and ready for the next Wednesday and so on.

Edit: Actually if any of you want to just tell me your film whenever if you've already got one in mind then i'll put it in the op to save me/whoevers week it is forgetting.

I'm at week 9 so there's still some time before it's my turn. But my movie selection would be "The Return" by Andrei Zvyagintsev. It's a spectacular russian film. Didn't really search for an online link yet. Great cinematography, that is absolutly emotionally powerful.

Just a suggestion, maybe everytime its a new members turn to choose a film, they can try to give out links to where it might be streaming, if its available on Netflix Watch Instantly, etc... Really excited about this, I should get Into the Wild in on blu-ray from Netflix soon, looking forward to revisiting it.

When I make each thread ill look for an online link/torrent for it but if I can't find one ill pm the person whose film it is and get them to either try and find a link for it or pick another film. I think that's fairest because obviously not everyone's gonna have each film on dvd or blu ray.

So discussion for each film can carry on after the week is up if necessary without it being cluttered and confusing. Unless you can think of a way to have it in one thread then that's the only way it can be done.
