^Yup. Some shit's about to go down
Oct 11, 2010 @ 11:03
IT'S COMING omgomgomg
Oct 11, 2010 @ 19:27
I don't think they're marketing this hard enough. Sure... it's all over io9 and had a huge presence at the San Diego and New York ComicCons, but I've yet to see a billboard or an ad on a bus or anything like that. And I live in NYC. I feel like they're wasting money marketing it to comic book nerds and nerds who visit io9. They need to get the mainstream in on this.
Oct 12, 2010 @ 11:37
and now i'm worried. nise.

I can't find this anywhere on the AMC website, so I'm linking to io9.

Just about a month away!

Ay DALEK, remember how you were saying you were concerned about the lack of promo? Well Fearfest (which ends on Halloween) on AMC starts today or yesterday, so I guess TWD blitz is imminent?
Oct 18, 2010 @ 10:26
Well... I saw Jackass this weekend and there was a short teaser for it before the regular previews. That was good. But... during horrorfest? People who like horror or AMC are already gonna watch it. I wanna see huge billboards and commercials on other networks. Sorta like the push for Boardwalk Empire. But... I guess it's too late for that. Oh well...
Oct 21, 2010 @ 14:34
So excited for this one! Sons of Anarchy is currently my number 1 but this might just take over that spot.
Oct 21, 2010 @ 18:35
Noice, I wanna watch this shit.
Oct 22, 2010 @ 19:40
The pilot -- being referred to as a "Director's Cut due to its length and lack of adverts -- is apparently circulating on the internet. Be cool if no one spoiled it til it airs.

Internet seems to like it.
Oct 22, 2010 @ 20:54
Really? Damn... I am so tempted to DL it now!!!
Oct 22, 2010 @ 21:28
Don't do it, guy! Unfinished special effects and poor quality! Only like a week to go! EXCLAIM!!!!
Oct 22, 2010 @ 23:20
It was cool it's gonna be good show

heel yee

Oct 24, 2010 @ 16:38
Yeah. I figured I've waited this long, what's another week? I did read issue 78 though... and something needs to happen soon. It's been really dull for quite a while now.
Oct 24, 2010 @ 19:40

Oct 25, 2010 @ 13:20
So...about that media blitz..

AMC plans a rather ambitious promotional stunt to promote The Walking Dead.

The cable network is staging "zombie attacks" in 26 major cities -- hundreds of extras in zombie makeup roaming landmarks such as the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., Big Ben in London, The Prado Museum in Madrid.

The stunts will commence at daybreak in Taipei and Hong Kong on Tuesday, Oct. 26 and moves across the globe during a 24 hour period and culminates at the show
Oct 25, 2010 @ 14:26
lolwtf
Oct 25, 2010 @ 17:19
I'm probably nitpicking here, but I still say they're marketing it wrong. They need to market it as a drama with zombies. Not zombies with drama. Big difference and I think all the focus on the zombies in the marketing is going to turn off casual viewers.

it COULD work out well, like with lost. lost was marketed as a survival thing, like castaway or lord of the flies of gilligan's island, but then it kinda snuck up on you with character-driven stuff and the occasional sci-fi overload.

i know back in 2005 when lost launched in the uk, i started because it looked epic, like a survival drama, with planes exploding and polar bears. turned out to be something else entirely.
Oct 26, 2010 @ 18:27

Hense still up in ATL after all that.

Watched it today, it's really good. The effects seemed okay, blood could have been better but it is on par with Kitano's version of Zatoichi, so whatever. Don't regret watching it as it airs at 10pm on Halloween and I probably won't be able to catch it.

Good comparison.

I have no doubt that it's going to be great. The source material + AMC + Frank Darabont is a recipe for greatness. I just hope it does well ratings-wise.

nah lol no hate, just that's my motivation for not watching the leak. i'd have to wait forever for the next episode.

i think the opposite about it disappointing people, however. it has the chance to succeed where the comic book failed, it'll be slow for tv but fast compared to the book (because it simply can't last as long as the comic book has) -- so fans of the book will like it.

and then it'll be new to people who never heard of TWD before the show, and all the twists and the character aspect and the zombies (because really, you have to sell it on the zombies) being on a tv show being a big deal, will hopefully attract a new audience.

i am curious as to how the casual viewer will see a show like this. my perspective, as an internet and semi-comic book whore, is not that of the average man or woman who works 9-5 and has a family and friends and hobbies and whatever.
Oct 28, 2010 @ 21:49
#78...shit's getting real smokeyface

edit: bit the bullet and screened it early. thought they should've dumbed down the zombies a bit more? idk, acting and casting is still great.
