So, i used to watch lots of HK movies back in the day

stuff like:

a better tomorrow series
soul of the assassin
tiger on the beat
the executioners
all the jackie chan movies
john woo/ chow yun fat movies
ringo lam movies
ekin cheng movies (storm riders, twins effect etc)

then it went back to chinese rule and everyone left and went to America and made crappy movies (excluding a few)

the last good HK movie I watched was New Police Story which was amazing

anyone out there able to recommend any newly released HK movies?

looking for more modern day action style films. not stuff like Hero, Crouching Tiger, Red Cliff.

since u like modern movies, the Tactical Unit series would be great, very good directing in this series. most of Simon Yam Tat-Wah movies r great fast pace, masculine movies, its like dad films, cause i swear my dad watched most of his. lol

good looks on the storm riders 2, i know i said i like modern stuff but ekin and aaron are great and i love all the engery ball stuff in those movies.

yeah, im a big fan of asian cinema in general, especially 80's and 90's HK movies.

Hard Boiled is one of my all time faves.

i remember watching hardboiled when i was a kid, great film.

plus it would never happen again since the 3 main leads are huge stars, the costs would be crazy

Wong Kar Wai's films are amazing. Christopher Doyle is one of my favorite cinematographers and always does great work with Wong Kar wai

^^ NSW hoodie, released a while ago. i guess nike had sponsored it cause miriam was wearign nike too.

and ya, i'm a huge shawn yue fan, and love in a puff is one great movie. havent seen a good mvoie from hong kong in a while, well these young type of movies, not some epic like ip 2.

i think shawn and miriam portrayed young hk kids quite well, a lot of times, its all about "heh" in the alley smoking, chillin

it seems like shawn was wearing his own clothes for msot of the movie though, that burgundy shirt and sweater seems to have come up several times. i dunno


it was nice to see" wai gwong" the cop asking them not to smoke, and was tricked into thinkign they're from japan and korea cause i listen to his radio show 1872 a lot. plus its like a reunion with miriam ever since miriam's female cop comedy days with daniel wu.

it seems like "tian yao" from " shine" is always playing those seven eleven cashiers in so many movies.
