They're new, I suppose. They only came up around '08, in a response to that DivX streaming site being closed down.

Good so far but it hasn't done as good a job as BoB so far in drawing me in and caring about the characters. I don't even really know who's who yet.

It's not really a sequel more so showing the war in a different front, covering 3 people using their memoirs. Band of Brothers was one book so its understandable how they could do 'Curahee'(the first BoB episode).

The first episode of The Pacific covered Robert Leckie(the guy who was in combat)John Basilone(the Italian dude who was having dinner) and Eugene Sledge(the dude who's pop was checking his heart). Thing about the Pacific though was it was a LOT MORE brutal than it was over in Europe.

Don't compare this to BoB it's not trying to be a compelling character drama, its supposed to show the vicious, racist, senseless and near constant violence that was the pacific war. Theres no towns to liberate there only japs to kill.

comparisons are going to be drawn between the two considering it's produced by the same 2 dudes and feels much the same stylistically.

You, don't need to watch Band of Brothers to get The Pacific but you should anyway cause it's awesome.

Just got the book of The Pacific by Hugh Ambrose. I'll let everyone know how it is once I finish.

I hate having to compare both movies. The Pacific in my opinion is off at a great start but i feel that they rush the characters development a bit. I am not as connected to these characters as i was with BoB. But i like what one person said in this thread and that is its meant to portray the brutality of the war in the Pacific and its just them killin Japs. Im just glad they have the pacific on HBO, im loving these dramas.
