Saving Private Ryan
Jan 28, 2010 @ 11:11
The first 15 minutes of Saving Private Ryan is amazing, but I'm gonna have to go with Apocalypse Now.

Jan 28, 2010 @ 20:30

saving private ryan is soooooo dope but its so fucking long. the d-day scene and the last scene with the sniper in the belltower holyyy shitt.

but black hawk down is probably my favorite of all time, if its on TV i'm watching it
Jan 31, 2010 @ 01:52
Apocalypse Now for me. I'd say Full Metal Jacket, but it's not really a war movie per se.
Jan 31, 2010 @ 03:01
I'd have to say inglorious Basterds or spr.
Jan 31, 2010 @ 03:03
that first part of SPR was groundbreaking. the way speilberg shot that, with the shaky camera and the sound of bullets whizzing by. that wasn't done before this movie. and it seems almost every war scene now implements the techniques used here.

plus i remember when the movie first came out, some veterans had intense emotional reactions to that scene b/c it brought them back to when they were in war.

now that's an amazing job.

this. and apocalypse now, my nigguh larry fishburne wus jus a child
Feb 02, 2010 @ 13:28
plus, Saving Private Ryan had Vin Diesel in it. so yeah, it's the best.
Feb 02, 2010 @ 16:28
This

Yeah, first movie I thought of.

i'd say apocalypse now is less so a war movie than full metal jacket

Brotherhood of War (Tae Guk Gi), the Korean movie in question, is really good, but the CGI is absolutely awful. The Coast Guard and Welcome to Dongmakgol are also good Korean War/conflict movies.

Band of Brothers is the ultimate.

Apocalypse Now, Hamburger Hill, Platoon, 84 Charlie MoPic(seriously, find this one), FMJ, SPR, Schindler's List, Downfall, The Last Battalion, A Very Long Engagement.

Worst ever was Passchendaele.
