Please recommend me some good TV series that has been going at least over 1 season.

I have watched "Breaking Bad" and "Weeds."

Tell me the title of the TV series and what category does it fall into [Thriller, action, and comedy]

I'm thinking of "How I met your mother" [comedy] and "Mad Men" [Drama]. I got time to kill because the SCHOOL IS OUT~

Thank you in advance.

The Office [comedy]

I need to watch some of the episodes to see if it's worth my time

Prison Break.[Action]
I watched season 1 n season 2. Season 1 was cool

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (comedy)

They try too hard... it's not clever but it makes me go wth... Ultimately it doesnt make me laugh.

Dexter.

Great cinematography and i like the setting, Miami. The story drags on though... too repetitive as well as for each episodes. He catches serial killers and that's it. His girl is FINE though &)

*i just realized I havent watched "The Wire" and I loved "The Corner" series.

I say Californication. Not too many episodes to get through, definitely the best comedy on right now. It's consistent, Duchovny is the shit and each season has its own focus.

The Wire is one to watch down the road, but it'll make every other TV show look that much worse.

ETA: You watch Breaking Bad. A good way of explaining how good The Wire is is by saying that Breaking Bad is definitely carrying that torch. It's hard to say though, because Breaking Bad hasn't put out 5 seasons worth of the gold they churned out for Season 2.

Breaking Bad. Malcolm in the middle dad is a high school chem teacher turned meth cook in order to pay hospital bills. It's on AMC and has already put out 2 or 3 seasons. Great stuff

Extras. Even funnier than the office I found. Probably more accessible to Americans too (yes I did just question Americans' sense of humour).

Extras is much better than The Office IMO, well at least the UK version of The Office anyway.

Extras is great.

In the drama/comedy category I would suggest "Studio 60: On the Sunset Strip" and for straight comedy I'd suggest everyone look into a show called "Summer Heights High". Only eight episodes, but it was pure gold.

I never got into The Office. Waaaaaaaaay too awkward for me. This is coming from a guy who stopped watching Adventureland when Jesse Eisenberg got out of the pool with a boner.

lost and curb your enthusiasm...all you need. Entourage in my opinion is a horrible show...all the show is about if you think about it is 4 goons who are trying to get laid as much as they can...that's why guys like it so much. My screenwriting teacher told me he can't even watch it cause it's so dumb...then again tv is bunk as hell nowadays. Jersey shore takes tv to a all new low...its very entertaining but very stupid...if you got time to kill watch it.

cheers

Sopranos only had one out of 6 seasons in the 90s. Here's some fucking spectacular shows from this decade:

30 Rock
Scrubs
The Office
Breaking Bad
The Wire
Lost
House (AT LEAST the first 3 seasons)
The first season of the O.C.
Chuck
True Blood
Californication
Entourage
Avatar: The Last Airbender (aka The Legend of Aang)
Skins
Grey's was good in at least its first two seasons
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Supernatural
Arrested Development is arguably the funniest sitcom EVER
24 (which has had more good seasons than bad) fucking reinvented storytelling on TV
Battlestar Galactica (again, was unsatisfied with the concluding episodes)
Doctor Who is good, but I don't really watch it regularly enough
Dexter
Weeds was good, the last season was a pile of shit though
The first season or two of Prison Break
HOW COULD I FORGET SONS OF ANARCHY?
Oh, and a little show called Futurama

There are a bunch that I've either heard were brilliant (The Shield, Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Friday Night Lights, Eastbound & Down) but haven't seen. But I'll concede to the point that the 90s had a lot ofepic sitcoms. This decade has been more for the drama -- the sitcom as it was is a dying breed. Very few shows have the rewatchability of stuff like Friends or Fresh Prince.

The writing in Entourage is fuckin unbelievable, I have too disagree with your teacher. The character of Jeremy Piven would be nothing if it wasn't for his amazing lines, you have to write that shit down and before "Ari Gold" there was no character like this ever.

You might not believe that the content in Entourage is great, because it really isn't...but the reason why it has so much success is because it seems like a pretty accurate and real depiction of that lifestyle but with alot of humour. Doesn't mean that if you don't have high drama stuff that it's garbage.

The writing is genious in my opinion and that style of writing will most probably influence alot of writers in the near futur, if it already hasn't.
