blockbuster is not going out of business. they're simply reducing their facilities now a days, since the economy is so bad. furthermore, they have steep competition against netflix. therefore, they are trying to expand their rental sales through the digital age of renting videos online and such.

They have been doing internet rental for a few years now. Not as good as Netflix though and now that Netflix is doing streaming through different outlets (i.e. Xbox360), Netflix is reaching a whole new level. Blockbuster needs to keep up with the changing economy and consumers.
