i wanna know how they make the models look lyk they do on the box. i dont care how much work goes into it i wanna make them look as sick as tht haha. and my favorite gundams: heavy arms and sandrock haha

to have it completely the same.

buy a kit. cut the pices out. sand every peice then base coat it. then main color. (some gundams have sading so do that to) and it will look the same. might also have to mix colors.

dude that wouldnt stop me from copping an exia, it isnt like sneakers where you show it off, building models is for personal enjoyment, its a hobby for a reason lol

1/60 scales, usually perfect grade and are FUCKING HUGE. but are the most COMPLICATED and time consuming to build. and dont think about just slapping it together these things need attention to detail

but there are some 1/100 scales that are just HUGE. mostly any model from gundam Zeta and beyond because they just become HUGE in that series compared to other gundams

thanks man. I'm really wanting to build one but I want the absolute gnarlest most impressive one I can find! Also what kind of paint works best on these things?

if you have alot of experiance building gundam model kits go ahead and build perfect grade kits. but if you dont, which im guessing(assuming from the paint question), start with a 1/100 scale. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. if you expect it to look like it does on the box be prepared to be dissapointed. Building huge scale models literally becomes an art. So take my advice and start small with 1/100s or maybe 1/144s but just dont jump to something huge with little to no experiance, you'll just waste your money and time. and Perfect Grade kits dont come cheap too, be prepped to spend more than $150+ if your still determined to get one. but there ARE cheap 1/60 no grade kits by bandai, so i suggest if you want something big still but not as daunting as a perfect grade just get a no grade 1/60 scale kit

and for paints any enamel or model paint will do.

and be sure to search this threads past pages for techniques and tutorial vids

Not always the case though if you put enough time and effort into a 1/100 scale you can get a pretty good looking gundam. What about the videos in the early pages when it shows the detail that go into smaller scale models. I think perfect grade is cool if you're really into them that much but for someone who is getting into it or even just starting I'd 1/144 is ok but yes be prepared to be a little disapointed.

There is currently a 1:1 scale RX-78-2 Gundam complete with a whole bunch of gimmicks such as lights and steam. I think they completed this project a week ago but the exhibition starts in July or something. It's located in Shiokaze Park.

picked up a Red Frame Astray two days ago..
finished it.. kinda?
Still gotta do detail on some parts of the body and the sheath thingy.. + the sword..
Which means I have to buy a gold gundam marker, a green gundam pen, and a white gundam marker.
Oh, and a red gundam marker.

Making it was.. Meh.
Should've been more patient.
In all; took me a total of 5 hours or more?
I chipped the extra grid piece's off of the parts, and then sanded them down.
Take me so long..

I fucked up bad when detailing came around.
Check some done Astray gundam pics before detailing your own.
I detailed the arm, and it looks fucking retarded. Pics up soon. Looks like shit though. sad
Gonna get a new one next month hopefully. Different colour astray?

Just got the 1/60 Red Frame Astray Perfect grade, this will be my 6th perfect grade, started 2 days ago and i have both legs and the lower torso completed pictures to come.

ok i looked through the forum and this was the only place talking about gundam model kits so here it is i live in houston texas and need to find a place that sells them. the only place that used to sell them that i know of closed down a few years ago now i cant find these things in stores. i know i could buy them online but i like to be able to hold and look at what i am buying. if it comes down to it and there is no other option then i will buy online but guys help me out plz. to clarify i live in south west houston area.

well buying online imo is the best option ever. the prices you get are cheaper than in person, and if your worried by how it looks, it all depends on what model, scale, and grade it is. but i know your the kind of person who wants the item in their hand when they buy it. lol we all are like that but the best model kits sometimes dont even make it out of japan so shipping is the only way to go
