i actually spraypaint with krylon paint while the parts are still on the runner, then flat topcoat. some actually get just topcoat, like the geara zulu and strike noir. id like to try airbrushing though
I'm really confused why you do it on the runners...that ruins all of the prep for making it look like not shit, no offense, but my process is that they need to be sanded, glued, seem lines need to go, and then priming painting, gloss coat, panel lines/decals, and the final top coat. Airbrushes are way nicer than rattle cans that's for sure.

my weapons of choice
finished the head in the first hour
after little panel lining and some decals (i ended up applying the rest later)
decided to give the core fighter a nice fighter jet touch
shield and feet after weathering
in the end, i decided to hold off on perfect grades for a while. and i also might invest my money in a cheap airbrush. great kit, lots of detail, less articulation than newer perfect grades, but detail>articulation imo
