Hey guys question - where is the best place to buy the hardware for these Leather goods. Im talking bout the heavy duty snaps, the keychain hooks etc

Me and a friend are darn good sewers and wanna fool around and try sewing up some accessories.

Tandy has a bunch, some of it is overpriced though like $5 for 1 swivel hook. This guy sells a bunch of hardware similar to what the Japanese companies use. myworld.ebay.com/x-kaijin-x/

And this guy has a lot more volume located in America. I personally recommend buying from him. stores.ebay.com/landcoleathercraftsupply

Does anybody know if these are being shipped already and the site just hasn't been updated? Or are they shipping October 2011? I sent an email but haven't gotten any reply..

Is there any way to fix the stains in the second pic? I think it looks cool but idk if it would be healthy for the leather..

I'm looking to pick up a tan belt from either N&F or Tanner Goods but don't really know how leather fading works.

I kind of like the color of the belt above and don't want it to darken too much. Is there a way to keep it that color permanently?

Or is it possible to pick up a belt of that color that's not raw leather somewhere? I've been looking around at Macy's, Nordstrom's, Barney's, etc but all the belts I see are either brown, black, or some funky color.

Alum tanned natty takes a while to darken, sometimes they even get lighter with age. There is seperate method I heard of that old tanners used for book-binding hides but forgot what it was called. That stuff is supposed to last centuries, and if you look at those really old religious documents and whatnot with original binding, some are still relatively light for pieces of history.

Also no the ones you're thinking of are not raw just undyed. Rawhides are pretty cool though if you decide on that.
