Hey guys - pretty new here, but been lurking for awhile. So I recently picked up some SL-100x's from SelfEdge, and got them hemmed down to a 31.5. (I usually wear a 32*30).

I also sized down to a 31 because from my reading it seems they do stretch. Well buttoning them up they def. seemed a lot more 'painful' than my APC NS I sized down with. Just wondering if others have sized down as well and gotten a comfortable fit.

Really don't feel like selling them. It sucks because I can't wear denim all day everyday (damn business casual).

The New 3sixteen+ 30BSP Jean & More

We have a very exciting new fit from 3sixteen+ this week, the new 30BSP Straight Tapered jean. Made of a hefty 15.5oz sanforized pure indigo dyed Japanese denim woven by Japan's Kuroki Mill and cut and sewn in America.

3sixteen+ is an ongoing collaboration between 3sixteen and Self Edge's Kiya Babzani, the models are designed with a need in mind. We get a near daily request for a fit that has room in the upper block but is fairly tapered below the knee. This jean is a combination of a straight leg jean and a tapered jean for the guy that wants (or needs) room in the upper block but also wants a small leg opening. The jean comes complete with hidden rivets, coin pocket selvedge, and the most mystical leather patch to have graced a product at our store.

If you need a reminder as to why this brand gives you the most bang for your buck than any other brand out there, step right this way.

@kiya Sell me on some 3sixteens. I recently got a pair of APC New Standards and liked the fit but I bought a size too big so I'm getting rid of them. I'm debating between getting a size smaller or getting a pair of SLs. I don't know how familiar you are with the New Standards but would you say the two are similar fit-wise?

The fits are very similar but the denim on 3sixteen's jeans is far superior in the way that it ages over time with regular wear. The two brands may look similar on a rack at a store but they couldn't be any more different with the way they'll look after six months of wear.

@kiya That's exactly why I was considering the SLs instead. The APCs just feel a little too flimsy to me. Is the sizing chart on the SelfEdge store pretty accurate as far as waist goes? I'm just pushing a 32 so based on the chart I should probably go with the 30, correct?

Go one size up from your APC size.
3sixteen's jeans run about 1" bigger than APC jeans in the waist and they don't stretch as much.

damn. my st 100 stretched quite a bit. I sized down 1 size and now they seem a size too big. I've had them for 8 months, approx 4 months of constant wear. Is it normal for 3sixteen to stretch so much? I'm thinking next time I might need to size down even more...

anyone find 3sixteens harder to fade? gave my st 100 a soak in woolite dark and I had little to no contrast....maybe I shouldn't use woolite dark if I wanted more prominent fades?

wow you kids wear 28's/29's? I got some 32 ST-100s but they are way too tight in the thigh-->knee, barely 1/4" of breathing room. I even measured the "thigh" line and it is almost 10.5 whereas online the size chart reads 11.2 for the thigh, can anyone confirm this?

Thinking about sizing up to a 34 and may even be switching to the SL and have them tapered if need be. Would hate to have to order the wrong size a second/third time

@trippymane, the feel of em are pretty similar to apc in terms of hardness. the denim and construction quality is definitely better, but they feel similar. theyll take a couple weeks to break in, and they do stretch as well.

i regret purchasing black 3sixteens a couple months ago. lol i have worn them a hundred times and they havent faded. Its my fault for believing the indian kid that works at self edge that they would fade instead of doing my own research.

^^^ Just look at the black Sl200x pics on selfedge.com, they haven't changed since I bought them. If your looking for a jean that will stay the same color no matter what they go through then these are perfect for you. I'd recommend spending a little more and purchasing black pbjs or samurais.
