Tried on the 32 fit fine, but was a bit too baggy for my tastes... Felt a bit too roomy all the way down. I'm gonna return for a 30 and see how that goes. Those looking for a relaxed fit should be pleased. I want a slimmer fit so I gotta try the 30.

As for the construction... I like what I see so far. The denim felt good and the patch is nice. I think the buttons are cool too, but my very top one had a small indentation in it like it was bent.

I'm eager to try on the 30 and see how it fits.

If it's a APC NS repro, sizing down 2 would prob. be ideal.

It's important to size down on APC NS's because their denim stretches quite a bit. Our Kaihara denim doesn't stretch nearly as much as theirs does, but you can expect the waist to have a little bit of give over the first month of wear. Thus, if you want it to wear it as a slimmer fit and you can cram yourself into a smaller size, by all means... I have customers who sized down and it's not a relaxed cut at all - the mild taper is right on for a straight leg. Next year we'll be releasing a model with a more aggressive taper.

My shitty photography with an old digicam aside I'm really liking the denim. Got my size finally and so far I like what I see. Snapped a couple of pics

I naturally wear 31-32 waist, but I got a 30. I sized down and its definitely a better fit than the 32. The fit is slightly tight right now and I think the denim stretching 1/2-1 inch would be perfect for me. I'll try to take measurements, but I don't have a measuring tape so if the 3sixteen guys can provide that info that'd be best. Accurate and straight from the guys themselves.

The details subtle, but are great. I like the blank pockets, the buttons are just lovely, and the patch is also quite nice. The denim feels good and a bit stiff just as I would expect.

When it comes to any company releasing their first denim its kind of buyer beware. As much as I love 3sixteen I was a bit worried. I'm glad that the denim stands up to the other quality items 3sixteen puts out. For the price point the denim is def worth it and you can see the guys put a lot of thought into the product.

I like the inner pocket print, nice touches.

I agree whole heartedly with your comments regarding being weary of grabbing a select piece such as denim from a brand who's not necessarily known for creating denim. It's like buying a pick-up truck from Ferrari vs. Chevrolet (hypothetically situation) or buying running shoes from a non-traditional running company.

To keep this thread alive! Still lovin the denim. After a few weeks of wear I feel the creases setting nicely and can tell the fades will turn out nice as long as I keep consistently wearing them. Still pretty stiff since when I hang them they retain their shape.

Introducing the 3sixteen Denim Series & Bracelets

We're proud to announce our newest addition to our denim lines here at Self Edge with 3sixteen.
We're starting off with three denim models and a few bracelet styles... The collection is handsewn in America of the finest fabrics, ensuring that every piece has a compelling story to tell.

Beyond the garments, we here at Self Edge love the guys behind the label and their vision of the future; this is why we've chosen to bring a rare non-Japanese brand into our mix of labels which we represent.

The first offerings from 3Sixteen come in the form of two jean silhouettes and a set of leather bracelets produced by Tanner Goods. The jeans were designed in part by Self Edge and we oversaw the sourcing and production of these from the beginning to end to make sure these were worthy of adding to the rest of what we carry here at the store.

The SL-100x jean is a straight leg cut made of selvedge indigo denim from Japan's famous Kaihara Mill complete with custom rivets, a thick leather tag from Tanner Goods, and chainstitched hems.
The ST-100x is a slim cut jean with a small leg opening to please those looking for a slim jean that's got a form fitting silhouette, also made of Kaihara's denim. The slim tapered cut is also available with black resin coated denim from Cone Mills (ST-210).

Also available are leather bracelets available in two styles in black or tan leather. These were produced in Oregon by Tanner Goods out of a sturdy thick English Bridle leather.

All three denim models and bracelets are available now in our online store. Check the product pages in our online store for more photographs, spec lists, and measurements

Kiya i was wondering these jeans finally fall under my price range
but i do have APC NS
design wise they dont seem to different, but the properties of the denim are different?
I wanted to know because I've been looking for new denim that fade differently.

I was just curious since the past few pages mentioned how their previous model was supposedly an apc ns version.

These will undoubtedly age far better than a pair of APC's, mainly due to the denim weave construction.
Most of Kaihara's denim tends to have more variation in it than even most other selvedge denim that's sanforized, singed, and calendered.
For the price you really can't go wrong with these, and the fits are easy to work into any outfit so they're not only a great jean to work with if you're looking for fading but they're also a great everyday jean from a fit perspective.

Those straight legs are gorgeous....but why such big back pockets. Hmmm.

Kiya, do you recommend a soak and sizing down at all for those straight legs?

The back pockets are actually normal sized, they're no bigger than the rest of the jeans we carry (with the exception of Imperial/Nudies).

No need for a soak, they're sanforized. Also, they run true to size, don't size down unless you want them super slim.

+1 (No need for a soak). I soaked mine and the shrinkage was negligible.

As for sizing, I sized down two to a 30 but I wouldn't consider them super slim. The thighs were not constricting and are now actually pretty relaxed. The waist has stretched out to 32" after about a month of wear. I'd say that mine fit similar to the fit pics on SE, if not even a little looser. Mine are from the first lot, but the cut should be the same...

***EDIT***: I've been informed that the cut on Lot 002 of the SL denim (the one carried by SE) is slightly different from Lot 001. The measurements for my pair of Lot 001 size 30 are as follows:

Waist 31.5
Thigh (1" below crotch) 11.6
Knee 9
Leg opening 7.75
Front rise 10
Back rise 13
Inseam 34

Looks alright, but the slim fit doesn't look slim from the knee down, at sz.30 you have a leg opening at 7.9, which makes it seem more like a straight slim and then the pictures almost give it a boot cut look, the top block looks good though.

Yeah, I'll be ordering a straight pair this week some time for sure. I'm pretty much a 33" waist and am going with a 32."

I agree with you Tech about the relatively mild taper on the slims. Still, great stuff all around at an affordable price = :thumbup.

Was the original 19cm dior not based after the New Cure? Maybe an APC repro isn't a bad idea...

The leather bracelets are exclusive to Self Edge. Sydney's will be getting the ST's in three colors (the third being a nonselvedge raw grey).
