lol you beat me to posting the links, but yea superfuture is great for denim info and talk ive been checking it out for a while.. they have a good denim board with info on everything

right now i got some Levis 501xx that i got from their store on broadway (a shop guy had no idea what i was talking about when i asked for raw 501s until he asked the manager:rofl: ) for like $46.. when i got them i soaked them for 5 hours in cold water then let em drip for a bit and then wore them moist until they dryed. So now im 3 weeks in wearing em everyday and i have some creasing but no color has come off yet
lol im in high school and none of my friends understand what the fuck im doing wearing the same jeans 6 months straight and why i want to get my own creases/distressing instead of their fake ass hollister and abercrombie stuff:rolleyes:  ... only 1 other sneaker freaker in the school that understandssad

What kind of tape should be used to tape onto the denim to prevent the transfer of colour to my sneakers? Also, do I just tape the bottom part from the inside like 1 inch?

selvedge denim is the way a jean is made. the machines that make selvedge denim cloth (which later becomes jeans, or overalls or denim jackets) is throw back old machines which make the cloth slower, thickers and in a way where the the cloth wont stretch out with wear and wash. jeans last longer, looks hotter and truely looks hotter as you wear it.

how do you tell selvedge from non selvedge. you fold the bottom of the leg into a cuff and peep the helm. if it looks like this its selvedge

http://www.milkybitz.com/Levis_Redline_Broad.jpg

you can see the stitch go up and down not zig zagging as it goes distinct up and down line.

whats hot on the streets is raw selvedge or dry selvedge. unwashed jeans, super stiff and mad dark. bleeds on everything and shrinks. youre supposed to wear it for 6 months before its first wash. i wouldnt wash it till it smelled or you drop something on it. has a slight shine to it.

back of the knee honeycombs and the crotch gets wiskers where the jeans folds. distressed by you, by wearing it. if you need to get the smell out theres a million ideas on how to do it...from fabreeze to baking soda to sticking it in the freezer. or combos of the 3. you can also soak them in which you use as little detergent as you can to stick it in cold ass water ( to not shrink or lose color) and hang dry it ( to not shrink)

i can talk about this all day

ok Question : Got a pair of Levi's 501XX STF. I know they're not selvedge, but will they distress and honeycomb like other jeans or no ? Or do I just have a pair of nice wash jeans ?

ALL jeans form honeycombs and whiskers. But selvedge has nothing to do with that. Selvedge jeans are just USUALLY of better quality denim and construction because of the slower process and lower product runs. But STF are raw...so yes they will honeycomb nicely but not end up as well as Sugarcanes or something.

honey comb happens the most on stiff tight denim. and when i say tight im talking tight!

hit me up i try to hook up who i can but shit is limited cause its a geniune hook up...not a resell. they got jeans at stack hosue too. full price. levis raw selvege for 300 and fenon X levis for 550!

Yeah, those prices seem high but...atleast for me...some quality denim is important, but not like shoes where you need a million pair. If I had 2-3 pair of jeans that I loved I'd be very happy...hell...one would be fine. That way I can keep the rotation tight and they become doper faster.
