nah they are not raw, just rigid, you can get fades with them but not that great its just starched over with some left over dye, not raw at all.

im looking to buy my first pair of jeans, what types of levi's should i get and what price range am i looking at? and is there a typical store I can get them at because I would like to try them on to see how it fits. someone told me Kohl's has them?

lol well of course i meant like "nice" jeans, I normally just wear levi's that aren't those numbers and bullheads from pacsun.

Edit: I checked my Levi's and they were 514, but they're too short and probably not tight enough, they're 30x30 and I'm thinking about picking up like 2 pairs of 511's 29x34 or should I get one pair of 511 and a pair of a different one?

Ok, so ive been slowly transitioning away from baggy-loose fit jeans.. its sad because i have quite a few pairs of hardly worn baggy jeans that are so big i cant wear them.. :/
Im taking the leap to the 501 shrink-2-fits...
I can usually wear about a 38-40, 40 being a little looser than i'd like.. so iguess i could ideally wear a 39..

I say skip all the 501 STF nonsense. I can understand if you're on a budget then a pair of $30 501 STF would be good. I've seen some turn out very nice after a long while.

If you like the 501 look and fit I say jump straight to the LVC. I own a pair of LVC 1947 501 and I gotta say I'm glad I threw in the extra cash instead of going with the 501 STF. They just feel better. I abuse mine pretty badly and they're holding up quite well and look pretty nice too. Just my 2 cents, but def feel LVC is the way to go if you plan on keeping/wearing them for a long period of time.

YOU DONT OWN A SINGLE PAIRS OF JEANS?!

Ok but here you go:

1. Levi's come ina variety of styles and fits.
-514 is very popular, they are slim straight fit
-501 Shrink to Fit (STF) isthe original levi's, button fly with a baggier/looser fit
-511 is a skinny fit, 510 is even skinner
-505 is slimmer than 501 but looser than 501
-520 is a slim/tapered fit?

2. All of the above can be found for about $30-50, unless you get into LVCs/501 selvedge denim, which can run from $100-200 i believe.

3. models like 501, 514, 511, and 505 can be found at stores like mervyns, kohls, macys, JC Penny, etc as well as any levi's store

any levi's store will have a VAST selection of styles/models but are usually more expensive

510, 520, and 511 can all be found at Urban Outfitters

LVC and Selvedge will be found at levi's stores

if you just bought them and they are the 501xx go for a hot/warm soak 45min+ if they are just regular, or dark wash then your good

for STF's do you guys size down? i really wanna get a pair and i'm thinking about taking a shower with them on so they will shrink more to my legs and have a half slim looking fit. is this a good idea do you guys think? i was thinking about copping a 35x34 when i'm normally a 36x 34

and i was wondering do I need to size up or down? i have 514s, but i think its a bit too slim, and much too short. I bought waist 30 because thats what I am, but I'm nearly 6 feet tall. Will the 520s fit better?
