selvedge has nothing to do with fading. Levi's rigid is pretty much the same as raw. No need for a soak so just wear them

Hey guys,
Thought I would share some progress of my Levi's Yorks. This is a cut I have not seen a lot but I got it for cheap this past summer. It is a skinny cut from the Selvedge Collection. The fades are coming along slowly but the fit is great.

This is after 7 months. No washes (4/20/2013):

At that price, Was it worth it or should I just go for unbrandeds?

I got mine at the Levi's Store in NYC. Sometimes they have them on clearance for under 50$
Apr 25, 2013 @ 00:35
Does the Levi's Store in NYC carry LVC?  I'll be in NYC in a couple months, would like to check out the store..
Apr 26, 2013 @ 08:13
There is a store in the Meatpacking District which definitely does and I think the SoHo one does as well. Not so sure about the rest.
Apr 26, 2013 @ 13:35
@Electrik Heat, I'm sure you can find them for even less. When I went back to Nordstrom, they were marked down even lower tongueface
In terms of quality, I actually prefer Unbrandeds over Levis. I'm not sure why, but my Levi's crotch blew out in 2-3 months. UB's are holding up quite fine.

I just got the STF 501. The fit on me is great but I just hate the leg opening. They seem so baggy and big and they overlap my sneakers. Has anybody taken them to the tailor to get them tapered? How did it turn out?
May 02, 2013 @ 21:09
I also hate big leg opening on the 1966 501s, I would be curious to see if anyone has had success tapering. I've been too nervous to trust it with such expensive denim.

Which one of the 501 shrink to fit or pre wash is more loose? I was thinking of buying the 569 but that one didnt have the color I wanted. Is the 501 any loose anyway if you buy them in the bigger sizes since I prefer my jeans to be a bit loose.
Jun 20, 2013 @ 23:04
shrink to fit is quite a bit looser/baggier than regular pre washed as long as you don't wash them. 569 cut is bad
Jun 21, 2013 @ 12:37
If I do wash them how much will the shrink then? Im mostly thinking about the leg opening and how tight the leg will be if I wash them since I would prefer to wash my jeans after Ive been wearing them.
Jun 21, 2013 @ 17:31
leg opening stays the same but the waist will shrink about an inch and inseam will shrink about three inches. if you plan on washing them buy them with a longer inseam and bigger waist since you want them loose.
Jun 21, 2013 @ 20:28
Ok thanks. Anyway one last question. First I wanted to buy the clean rigid 501 but after reading some reviews about them it seems like the quality of them is worse than the other levi jeans. So I found these I like the color of even if they are way to baggy for me on this picture. If anyone know what color this is called and if its pre wash or shrink to fit I will be grateful.

Jun 21, 2013 @ 20:41
looks like the regular indigo/rigid shrink to fits, but those guys have sized up a lot. they are baggy but not THAT baggy.

proper sizing and not shrinking them will look more like this:

if you decide to wash/shrink them they will fit more like regular pre washed 501s
Jun 21, 2013 @ 21:18
If you wash them in cold water will they shrink as much as they will when you wash them in hot water?
Jun 21, 2013 @ 21:58
no they will not shrink quite as much in cold, but the shrinking will still be significant because they are unsanforized. you are also going to lose some of the dye in the jeans when you soak/wash them. this is normal

Probably 510's. If you want a looser fit, try 511s.

Honestly, 7" leg opening is fine.
