The Official Levi's Thread

Feb 09, 2011 @ 16:51
I just copped some Levi 511 Rigid's 32x34, and my TTS waste is 30~32. These feel really damn tight, almost impossible to button - is this just because they're fresh and need to stretch a bit?

Also, they're way baggier than I thought. Should I bother getting them tapered/hemmed, wear them in for a while, wash them, or just sell them and get my cash back?
Feb 09, 2011 @ 18:40
sounds like you should get cashback..

I ordered them online over 50% off, I could probably make a little profit if any. I have a buddy who'd buy them at just barely under retail, im just wondering if I should give them a chance.

lol creepin on OG sufuer... I don't really understand what kind of answer you're looking for... be skinny? Sag?

wasnt creepin on sufu.. someone posted it and i quoted meaning its from this thread + go back a few pages from mine >smh

also i want to specifically know what TYPE it is i'm pretty sure the guy i quoted said that and you're answer doesn't help at all.

can someone explain to me how you starch a pair of pants? preferably the spray.
Feb 13, 2011 @ 17:21
Not exactly a question on denim's... but I'm wondering about the Twill khaki's. Someone suggested I get them but want to hear your guys' opinion on them. Or maybe you guys know of any better khaki's other than the Twill's?

I'm deciding whether to get the 501 STF's or some new khaki's...

Are you talking about the 511 twill khakis? I've had them for more than a year and they're holding up well. Cop while you can.blushing
Feb 13, 2011 @ 17:53
You got any fit pics? I wanna see some before I cop.

I'm thinking of buying 501 STF's because my 514's and 505's are a little too long (scrape the ground when I wear my Vans authentics) but if I can fix that, I'll buy khaki's instead.

Just a quick question about the 501's though: I want to buy them in my size, 34x32 to hopefully get them within 34x30 or so. But what if it's still too long? For example, if it ended up being 34x31 or something, will I still be able to wear it? I'm just worried that I buy these denims, shrink them, and they still end up too long. I want them to at least be stack-able if they're too long so they won't scrape the ground when I wear them.. Thanks.

well i think you should just get some 511's or 520's, the 501's opening will generally always drag if you wear vans authentics unless theyre too short, as far as the sizing goes...i kinda lost you haha sorry. and if you gotta have 501's for some reason, get them tapered to where they wont drag hope this helps

Hey,
I'm sighting a Levi's LVC 501xx 1947 at eGay.
This pair has actually been worn some times and washed once.
strangely there's alsmost no fade.
Here's a link:
hhttp://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160545931083&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:DE:1123

now my question:
Can I expect some fade when I wear them?
I just copped a pair of nudie selvage raw denims 3 weeks ago. How useful is it to have two pairs of the same kind?

thanks!

Beste Grüße aus Deutschland!

I looked back a couple pages ago and what are people talking about when they mention 'honeycomb' and 'whiskers'? Is there a specific 'technique' on how to soak these 501 STF's?

Google, my friend. do your research
Feb 18, 2011 @ 00:02
Just picked up a pair of 501 STFs from a vintage store, real nice... From the 1980s, the dye was discontinued I think because it was outlawed in some places, idk why specifically. It's nice and slubby, I'll post some pre/post wash pics and measurements when I get around to doing it. Might just go with the holistic approach though, haha let Seattle's rain do its work. The fit as of now isn't too bad itself.

Agreed.

Would post link to pix, but I'll have to wait until I'm over 25 posts.

They supposedly have a pair of Levi 510 Khaki Rigid in the works. Interested to see how they feel. I have an old pair of 501 STF Khaki, that look and feel great.
Feb 18, 2011 @ 20:26
After getting them tapered they were still a bit too big/long for my liking so I

Anyone have any recent year-long pics taken of everyday wear with their Levi 501 STF's? Or anyone know wher eI can find? I've been looking through this thread for about an hour lol.

MyNudies (a website/forum) has had two contests in the past couple years with probably 10-20 pairs being worn.

tapering jeans is like this, from going to 514's to 511's
and you can do so taking them to your local tailor who can do a good job
