The 501's are definitely a straighter cut than the 514, so an unaltered pair would be wider at the hem. You're gonna wanna get a pair of 510's if you wanna go smaller.

I just washed my 511s today after a year of wear (not everyday, but often) and one trip to the dry cleaners. I'm not too sure if they'd be considered nice. I can't post photos though.

lvc
Found some lvc 1947 501s (STF) on sale for $155. I tried a 34/34 on in the store (im usually a 33/32) and they fit surprisingly well preshrinkage. Length was obviously too long, but there was only a little room in the waist/seat/thighs. Is it a bad move to buy these? I'm afraid theyll shrink to be too small and I'm looking for a classic/fit (ie not too tight)

Considering they at STF's, they will shrink to a good fit.

I think you would be good. I'm a 33/32 true size right now & I own a pair of '47s that are a tag size of 33/34. I soaked them a second time about 4-months in. They are a little snug, but will definitely stretch back out.

They look okay, but you should not have washed them or take them to the "dry" cleaners.

Cool, thanks. I'm just worried they'll be too tight after they shrink. Will they stretch significantly if they do shrink a bit too much?

Yeah, I didn't know how to get rid of the stink so I took them to the dry cleaners. I regretted it when I got them back.

There should not have been any bad smells from the jeans unless you split something smelly on them. I wore a pair of 511's for more than a year. They did not smell at all.

the best thing you can do to get denim to smell good again that you don't want to wash is spray with febreeze and fill with fabric softener sheets and hang 'em in the sun for a few hours.

I know people sweat. I used to play sports in my old 511s and sweat all the time. I just turned them inside out and left them hang outside. The smell would go away. Or put them in the freezer.

Im kinda scared to buy 501 stf's. I been wearing 511's for a while and I wanted to get a simple and plain straight cut fit.
Kinda like:
- img taken from mynudies forum's natepan

I really don't know how to size to that type of fit. Should i just buy a mall pair and experiment with sizes?

You size up 1 on waist and length and soak them.
