So I've been wearing APCs for the past two years and am getting sick of the way they fade, so I thought I'd try these, seeing as how they're really the only other jeans in that relative price range.

I'm thinking about the Slim Guy - if I wear a 30 in APC NS and a 32 in "normal" pants, how should I size for these? Looking for like a Levis 514 fit, maybe a little slimmer.

It'll take forever for them to fade, if you want fading don't get N&F unless they're Deep Indigo.

I typically just buy selvedge denim because of the quality/fit, I'm not really interested in fades. I mean, I don't really mind fading, it's just that APCs look a little weird to me when faded. The fact that N&F retain their color is definitely a selling point for me.

personally i like the weirdguy fit, maybe look at those before you decide on slimguys. if you have bigger than average thighs then down one should be good. 2 if you want a skinnier fit but that's up to you. they dont stretch as much as apcs but they do stretch

Ah, thanks so much for the sizing help. I'm not really low rise/taper but I'll definitely check them out since I'm pretty thin.

i'm looking into getting a pair of size 38 weird guys, i was just curious on what i should expect for the leg opening size to be? being a bigger waist size, this is always the place that denim fits like shit for me. i looked around a good bit for a measurement chart for weird guys and i can't find one. does anyone have any ideas?


I think you should go with a straighter cut with such a large waist size

I find that they fade pretty quickly. After a month of wear on my wierd guys, the fades are already coming in.

so i'm thinking of grabbing a pair of skinnyguys. i tried them on before, but i cant remember the exact fit. anyone know how they fit compared to 510s or 511s?

if youre trying to decide between'em, id say itd be tough for UO to compete. i might recommend them to a novice tho, to make mistakes on. hem or no hem, u must to try them out.

I have both. They are quite different from each other. The weirdguys are quite a bit more tapered from knee down, the new standards are straight cut. Also the rise is quite different. The weirdguys sit low on my waist whereas the new standards are cut higher.

I'm really happy that I found this place- I've been looking at getting a pair of black selvage jeans to replace my aging (but still favorite!) J Crew selvedge!

I've been looking at the Black Slimguys, but haven't really been able to find too much about them after reading this thread- I don't want a tight fit, but I was something slim!

I believe that I have a natural 33 waist (that's what I wear in 501s), and that provides me with a decent fit (maybe a bit baggy in the thigh/ass)... looking at the measurements on TOBI for this cut, it looks like I should maybe grab the 31s- can anyone vouch for this?

Also, it'd be great to hear from others that have bought the black selvedges, testimonials etc. Pics would be fantastic as well!

either 31s or 32s would be good imo, also depends on if you have thighs that are kind of big. if they are then people say down 1, although this is typically for weird guys and maybe not slim guys so you might have to get another person's advice too

i have these. i am generally a comfortable 33 also. i bot the 30 to allow for stretch, and while intially i found them quite painful, they are now a good deal more relaxed, but still very tailored. i will say, however, that i would surely have switched to 32, as the slim guy fit works a little better when its less tight, with more draping and less pronouncement of the genitals.
